A Word of Encouragement Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director I have been mulling around in my mind what to say as we are immersed in the Corona Virus or Covid 19. It seems like everywhere you look its there. So, what can we as Christians and the Church do? Allow me to share a few thoughts. First, we dont want to panic, but rather trust in the Lord. Remember, as Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, his final words were, I am with you always, to the end of the age." You and I have surrendered our lives, mind, body, soul and strength to the control of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us trust Him. Second, we need to pray both individually and corporately. Prayer is the great reliever of anxiety and fear. Ask God to fill you and the church with His mind and heart. Trust Him to guide you through this Pandemic. Pray for those who are having to make difficult decisions. Pray for those who are first responders and caregivers. Pray for those who are contracting the virus and their family members who are also quarantined. Prayer can become one of our greatest weapons. Third, Stay informed by getting the best and most current information available. Remember the best sources for your information are the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, State and Local Health Departments. Go directly to the most reliable source of information and read it for yourself. Fourth, Cooperate with Authorities. Try, to the best of your abilities and the ability of the church, doing what is being asked. Their goal, at this time, is keeping everyone safe and building a buffer between people and virus. Fifth, Plan for Ongoing Ministries. By that I mean, keep in communication with one another as individuals and as the Church with its members. Serve one another by assisting those who are High risk by going on their behalf to pick up groceries, prescriptions and their personal needs. With the call to limit the number gathered; the Church can provide Live Worship via internet, Facebook or other ways of communication. Why not pre-record CD, DVD or other types of recording. This may be a time to meet the neighbors and fellowship with them. Sixth, As we are restricted to worshipping at home, remember that one aspect of our worship is to present back to God our offerings and gifts of gratitude for His provision. Be sure to continue to give your tithe and offerings to your church either online, by mail or some other way you choose. Through this time, the financial needs continue. Finally, Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. Be a Positive witness of Jesus. A Word of Encouragement Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director

I have been mulling around in my mind what to say as we are immersed in the Corona Virus or Covid 19. It seems like everywhere you look its there. So, what can we as Christians and the Church do? Allow me to share a few thoughts.

First, we don’t want to panic, but rather trust in the Lord. Remember, as Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, his final words were, “I am with you always, to the end of the age." You and I have surrendered our lives, mind, body, soul and strength to the control of the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer Coordinator Dr. B.L. Worsham

“And Daniel spoke God’s judgment:

“MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.” (Daniel 5:25)

Daniel, young but remarkably wise; established an, example for obedient Christians to follow! Daniel was a Jewish captive being trained to serve the king of Babylon. He and three companions were assigned a strict regimen by the king; which included their daily diet! But Daniel set a goal! “(Daniel)” purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself--with the king’s meat--nor wine.” (Daniel 1:8) The prison officials were fearful to change King Nebuchad-nezzar orders, but God intervened. Daniel said: “Prove us--ten days--give us pulse (vegetables) and water--to eat and drink--then inspect us.” (Daniel1:9-13) Daniel worked his plan! After ten days, Daniel was better looking than all the others whom they were training. The others trusted King Nebuchadnezzar: Daniel trusted God! After three years, all captives were “brought before King Nebuchadnezzar--and among them were found none like Daniel--in wisdom and understanding--ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in his realm.” God blessed Daniel--then, and all the days of Daniel’s life! (Daniel 1: 18-21) Daniel, a man of Great Prayer! A prophet, who trusted God! The Seer, who lived long and spoke the words of God which ended Belshazzar’ reign. “Thou art weighed in the balance, and found wanting--thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and the Persians!” (Daniel 5:27)

Proof that from youth to death--

--God hears and answers prayer!

New VBS Date to be announced soon!

VBS Trainings set for March 31 & April 18

will be moved to a new date in May.

For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment ESV Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. The unwelcome visitor from afar—Covid-

19—has impacted all of us in more ways than most of us can fully identify. One change that the virus has brought is post-poning our training events for VBS Directors and Workers. We will reschedule a combined event in May, so SJBA VBS Director Rumaldo Gonzales is encouraging each church to continue enlisting workers and planning their program so the team will be ready to participate in the rescheduled training. The uncertainty surrounding the longer-term effects of the virus can be unsettling. Our prayer for every church—pastors, staff, leaders, and members—is that we may all recognize God’s Hand guiding us through this challenging time. Familiar events like VBS remind us of the privilege He gives us in providing a strong Biblical foundation for our precious children.

Lake Tomahawk News Patrick Flowers, Camp Manager

Please pray for Lake Tomahawk in these uncertain times as we pray and monitor day-by-day the affects the corona virus is having in our industry. We have lost several retreats and are dealing with retreat loss on a case-by-case basis. We anticipate losing more retreats in the following weeks based on CDC and state governing rules. We are still preparing for summer 2020 and we ask that God’s blessings still allow us to be able to host the camps this summer. At this time, we are not discussing cancelling any of those camps be-cause they are too far out for us to make any long range projections again based on the CDC and state governing rules. And we ask that God’s blessings still allow us the opportunity to host and minister to summer camps. As many of you know and are dealing with yourselves, this plays a major impact on us financially. Please be in prayer for our finances and decisions being made for us to get through this spring.
