Now this is what we call ‘red hot’ design. This chunky
urban style leg system oozes edginess to create an
interior that’s really out there, beyond contemporary.
Constructed from robust 50x50x2mm steel, Venezia
legs come in ‘square’ or ‘pyramid’ designs and can
be powder coated in a variety of colours. Teamed with
pure white desktops as we’ve done here is the height
of minimalism - seriously trendy for those after a look
that’s so clean it’s clinical.
New Venezia also comes as a sliding top bench frame
– see overleaf. The latest desking solution, the bench
system provides a large expanse of workspace with a
continuous, uninterrupted surface area. A great idea
with flexibility built in for larger teams that need to work
together. Benches are 600 or 800mm deep x 740mm
high and are available in a wide range of widths from
1m to 2m. Bench tops are either sliding or have a flip-
top for easy access to the cable management system.

The Giorgio desk leg has always been a firm
favourite. Constructed in steel and powder coated
for a durable finish, Giorgio is available in either silver
or graphite. It readily accepts any desk extension,
link or accessory so it’s easy to create your own
modular solution to suit the individual way you work.
It’s also designed to accommodate cabling within the
leg frame, which is then cleverly hidden by a stylish
laser cut cover. This is factory fitted to order, in a
matching or contrasting finish.

The call centre is an environment with exceptionally

Seat height
When seated, your feet should be comfortably on the
ground or supported with a footrest.
Seat tilt
Your knees should be slightly lower than your hips
and the seat should ideally tilt forward in order to
rotate the top of the pelvis keeping the spine in its
natural ‘S’ shape.
Lumbar support
The small of the back should be well supported to
help maintain the natural curve of the spine.
Seat depth
Your seat should allow you to sit right back into the
chair without putting pressure on your calves
Armrests
Armrests can give added support and should ideally
be height adjustable to suit the individual user.
Mobility
A chair which has a rotating seat and castors will
enable you to move around your work station
more freely.

Our range is packed with choice and you can tailor
your chair to your individual taste and needs in
many cases. The most important decision when it
comes to comfort and support however is to do with
the adjustability and mechanics. You will find three
different mechanism options in our range of task/
operator chairs:
PcB
Back moves with user. Seat remains level.
tilt Action
Seat angle can be adjusted independently of back.
Back can move with user.
Synchro Action
Single lever adjustment for synchronised movement
of seat and back pads in a 2:1 ratio. For every two
degrees of incline applied to the back pad, the seat
will incline one degree in same direction.
ArmsWe have a wide range of arm designs available including drop down or height adjustable choices. (See them all on page 49).
castorSmooth running castors are available on all our task/operator chairs. They come in black as standard but silver effect castors are also available as an alternative.
SeatChoose a chair with tilt or synchro mechanisms for maximum adjustability. A ‘seat slide’ option is available in some styles which enables you to extend the depth of the seat – ideal for the taller user.
Height adjustmentAll our task/operator chairs are height adjustable to help you maintain a good seated posture.
BackrestWe offer high back or a shorter mid back option. Choose chairs with tilt or synchro mechanisms for a back that moves with you. (See below).

When planning and designing your office interior and deciding on the furniture you need, it pays to take some
time out to think about what happens in your office in a typical week and how you could work better in your
ideal office environment. Here are some key things to think about which could help to determine your individual
needs for functionality and style.
How many people work in this space?
If you have many people to accommodate or a particularly small area, a cluster arrangement or one of the more compact desk shapes will suit your needs.
What sort of work do you do there?
If you need to spread out papers or plans on the desk, you’ll need more desk top space than most. Consider a desk extension or radius end.
Do you need to meet with others?
If you often work in small groups or have small informal meetings, it might be an idea to add a meeting table extension to the end of the desk or plan for a completely separate meeting table.
What do you need to store?
Don’t underestimate the storage space you need. Make sure you plan it into your design so that you can create an environment that will stay organised, efficient and clutter-free. Do you need filing cabinets, bookcases for files or larger storage units?
What are the likely noise levels?
If your office handles a high number of calls, generating higher noise levels, you should consider including desk top screens. They can help improve acoustics and give the workstation a bit more privacy.
Are you sitting comfortably?
We sit at our desks for many hours every working day so it’s important to choose a chair that is fit for the purpose. See page 46.
Where is the power coming from?
If fully concealed wiring to each workstation isn’t an option, consider including wire management accessories or pop up electrical sockets to minimise unsightly and trailing cables.

If your office is a little on the dark side, choose light wood finishes, more open leg systems and cabinets with frosted doors rather than solid ones. All this will help create a softer look and a more spacious feel.

Over the last 25 years Hawk has built up a well-deserved reputation in the office furniture market, supplying
more than 400 dealers across the UK and Eire. Now fully ISO accredited, the business has continued to grow
substantially, with steady investment in both people and infrastructure. We have also diversified into new markets
where the quality and high specification of our product is well recognised. The 10 acre site is now home to a
60-strong workforce whose skills are divided between the 80,000 sq ft manufacturing plant, sales & marketing
team and distribution.
Our on-going aggressive expansion programme has resulted in a state-of-the-art facility including a metalwork
shop, machine shop, packing & transport department, and most recently our own in-house powder coating plant.
Attention to detail We set our standards high and our attention to detail is something we are very proud of
at Hawk. Our furniture is FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) tested to British Standards BS 4875
for strength and stability. We guarantee each and every product against any manufacturing defect
for a full 5 years.
caring for the environment Our selection of raw materials and our manufacturing processes are under
constant review to ensure we continue to operate in an environmentally responsible manner, including the use
of recycled materials wherever possible. All timber used is from well managed forests, sourced through ‘Qualifor’
assessed suppliers holding ‘Chain of Custody’ approval certificates.
