This Week: How do you like our new newsletter!?!?! After working on the PTO newsletter, I fell in love with the format and had to use it in the classroom! I hope you enjoy it! This week we’ve been reading FUN Farm fiction books! We are just getting our feet wet in our yearly farm theme! We will be “traveling” to the farm this year (via bus, train or RV…depending on the children’s vote)! We will begin learning about those modes of transportation in preparation of our trip in the next few weeks. So our fun, farm fiction stories are planned to teach us about the farm, while sparking our interest and getting us excited for our theme this year! During shared reading this week, we’ve been talking about initial consonant sounds (the beginning sounds in words). I’ve been using the Mrs. Wishy Washy books to work on this skill. The kids love Mrs. Wishy Washy and I hope you heard all about her on Thursday evening (from your planner question)! On Friday, we had our very fist directed drawing lesson! The kids LOVED IT! I hope you enjoy hearing all about it this evening-your child’s drawing is in their backpack today! Parent Teacher Conferences

A HUGE THANK YOU to those who have

signed up AND attended our parent teacher conferences this week! We are

a TEAM for your child, and working together will help achieve so much more

than working alone! If you have not signed up for a conference, please check your Friday folder today and

return your RSVP on Monday!

A-RRRRRRRR We are beginning a new nine weeks today.

During the past nine weeks, only those friends who were reading independently had an AR goal! Beginning TODAY, EVERY child in our classroom has an AR Goal to work towards. Please encourage your

child to check out “pink dot” library books (kindergarten level). Once you and your child have read the book at least three

times, please fill out an AR slip (in today’s Friday folder) letting me know your child is ready to take a test on that book! Once

your child has met their goal, they get to go to the library, get a coin and add it to the

bulletin board for all to see! They also get to be featured on the morning news AND in

our newsletters! AR is a great way to encourage reading and comprehension!

Picture Make Up Day: Please let me know if you would like to have your

child’s picture remade this Wednesday. Only those who request it, will have the opportunity.

Please return your picture order on or before

October 19th !
