To establish a common and systematic approach for the

effective management of workplace health hazards.

To perform risk assessments of occupational health hazards

within all of our work sites.

To manage and control potential health exposures and risks.

To implement effective health surveillance programmes

To ensure all workers are aware of and protected from

exposures to occupational health hazards and .

To prevent workplace injury and illness.

    II. Expectation 1 Review the

    Standard

    a. All sites shall review and

    implement the Standard

    b. Perform a gap analysis

    c. Complete site-specific risk

    assessments

    d. Implement corrective

    action plan using the

    hierarchy of controls

    action plan using the

    hierarchy of controls

II. Expectation 2 Perform a gap analysis

Team assemble a review teamof managers and employees to

    complete the gap analysis.

    Analysis compare existing site

    procedures with each Section of

    the Standard.

    Gaps identify weak points and

    develop an improvement plan.

    Actions prioritize findings,

    identify responsible persons, and

set a timeline to close the gaps.

Elimination If you eliminate a hazard youcompletely eliminate the associated

    risk.

    Eliminate

    the task

Substitution You can substitute something else (asubstance or a process) that has less

    potential to cause injury.

    Select

    safer

    chemicals

Isolation You can isolate the worker from thehazard.

    Noise

    Control

    Enclosure

Engineering You can make a structural change tothe process or equipment to interrupt

the path between the worker and the

    risk.

    Guarding

Administrative You may can reduce risk byupgrading training, SOPs, worker

    rotation or other administrative

    actions.

    IV. Requirements

Risk is the chance (high, moderate, low) that someone could be

    harmed by a hazard.

The Standard requires that corrective action plans are

prioritised according to the risk rating as determined by the

    risk assessment process.
