PRG Brings in NPI ExpertiseTo develop and implement a New Product Introduction (NPI) process, PRG provided on-demand resources. These on-demand resources allowed the Client to get quick access to expertise and retain them for (only) as long as needed:

SOLUTIONS

Substantially improve system performanceIncrease system uptimeReduce component failuresAvoid costly and risky electronic rework

Client is a Tier 1 equipment and solutions provider in semiconductor simulation and testing. The company’s hardware and software products allow engineers to perform stand-alone emulation, in-circuit emulation, and co-modeling of systems on a chip.

The Client was known for deep expertise in its software solution, but wanted to broaden its business by acquiring a leading hardware company outside of its domain expertise. However, the hardware product had inconsistent product performance as well as down time. Also, rework was required because of electronic component failures. This drained the Client's resources and ability to support it's ongoing successful business.

ThThe hardware business that the Client acquired had strong R&D capabilities but weak product lifecycle and program management processes. For its next generation product the Client wanted to:

ABOUT PRODUCT REALIZATION GROUP

Established a robust NPI and quality processProvided released documentation for eventual ISO certificationImproved system performanceIncreased system uptimeReduced electronic component failures Demonstrated greater reliabilityGGreatly increased demand for its next generation product

Product Realization Group leveraged integrated support, introduced well-defined processes, and built a collaborative product development team. Over the course of a year, the Client exceeded next generation product and business goals:

RESULTS

Closing the biggest reliability gaps in the system set up higher reliability for the Client's next generation product.

Established a reliability benchmark and planEstablished desired “future state” reliability requirementsDetermined reliability targets for subsystems and componentsCreated and implemented a reliability improvement planExecuted HALT testing for critical subsystems

Putting this structure in place resulted in substantial improvement to the quality core team’s ability to identify and track quality issues to closure.

Product Reliability Expert

PRG's Product Reliability expert analyzed downtime data from the existing system to develop a reliability improvement program that:

Added Automated Quality Module

Developed & Released Quality Process Documents

Initiated & Managed Corrective Action (CAPA) Program

PRG’s NPI Project Manager created and executed integrated project plans and schedules for the core teams.

Quality Systems Engineer

PRG's Quality Systems Engineer provided expertise in quality programs with the following support:

Project governance and structure through phases and gatesProduct development process documentation and checklistsIntegrated project plans

The product life cycle process initiated by the NPI PM included product development lifecycle documentation, well-defined deliverables, phase exit criteria and checklists tailored to the company's product and needs. The NPI PM established core teams in the areas of R&D, assembly, test, reliability, quality, supply chain and operations. The NPI PM also provided the Client's core team leaders with the project management tools and training necessary to keep the process on-track.
