BOOSTING OUR POTENTIAL WITH SKILL DEVELOPMENT • Food industry Capacity & Skill Initiative (FICSI), a Sector Skill council on food processing has been operationalized by FICCI. Qualification Packs (QPs) have been developed for 52 job roles. Out of this, 27 QPs are approved by QRC and validation of the balance 25 QPs is in various stages of industry validation. NIFTEM is developing course contents and training material including audio-visual-aids; NIFTEM & IICPT are training partners of FICSI and rolling out training as per norms of PMKVY. • The training under PMKVY have started from 4th September, 2015 in 30 training centers spread over 11 states. As on date FICSI has allocated around 27,273 trainees and 12.182 trainees have been enrolled by various Training Centers and assessment for 3,822 trainees have been completed.

OUR REACH SHOW WE MEAN BUSINESS1. CREATION OF COLD CHAIN CAPACITY • Completed 33 projects under Cold Chain Scheme.

• Under NMFP, State/UT governments sanctioned 30 projects of Cold Chain and 4 Reefer Vehicles.

• Cumulative increased capacity in our Cold Storage, Controlled / Modified Atmosphere Storage, Deep Freezer by 2.95 Lakh MT.

• Added capacity of 75.038 MT per hour for individual Quick Freezing, 93.84 Lakh Litres per day of Milk Storage and 440 Reefer Carriers

2. MEGA FOOD PARK IS NOW A REALITY • Inaugurated 3 Mega Food Parks – at Tumkur (Karnataka), Fazilka (Punjab) and Nalbari (Assam)

• Each Mega Food Park will generate employment for about 6000 persons and benefit about 30000 farmers.

3. INCENTIVE FOR INVESTMENTS • We have brought down duty on food processing and packaging machinery from 10% to 6% in 2014-15 budget.

• Services of pre-conditioning, pre-cooling, ripening, waxing, retail packinjg, labelling of fruits & vegetables are expented from service tax in 2015-16 budget

4. ENCOURAGING ENTREPRENEURS WITH AFFORDABLE CREDIT • A special fund of Rs. 2000 crore in NABARD created to provide affordable credit for food processing units in the designated Food Parks;

• Food & Agro-Based Processing Units and Cold Chain have been classified under Agricultrue activities for Priority Sector Lending

5. MAKING BUSINESS EASIER • We have reduced the requirement of supporting documents such as affidavits, agreements, etc. to be submitted with a proposal

6. CREATING THE FOOD MAP OF INDIA • Identifying surplus and deficient areas of various agricultural and horticultural produce in the country. It will help us in planning processing clusters

by means of setting up suitable facilities in different parts of India. The map is available on the ministry’s website.

7. BOOSTING OUR POTENTIAL WITH SKILL DEVELOPMENT • Sectoral skill council on food processing has been operationalized by FICCI. Draft National Occupational Standards and Qualification Packs

developed for 38 job roles. NIFTEM is developing course contents and training material including audio-visual-aids. NIFTEM is a training partner of

FICSI and rolling out training as per norms of PMKVY.

8. EXPENDING PROCESSING CAPACITIES*• Under the National Mission on Food Processing, State/UT governments have sanctioned 631 projects – including bakery, consumer, dairy, fisheries,

flour milling, fruits & vegetables, meat products, oil milling, pulse milling, rice milling and wine

9. BETTER UTILIZATION OF FUNDS* • Total expenditure under National Mission on Food Processing increased from Rs. 29.72 crore in

FY 13-14 to Rs. 125.31 crore in FY 14-15
