and seemed scared. He said he did not mean to scare her and at no time did he do anything that was threatening towards her. He said that he left is his BCSO vehicle and drove to a BCSO Substation where he slept in his vehicle in the parking lot until around 0500 when he returned home to find that had left. He said later in the day he left her several voicemails and eventually learned that she left because she felt threatened when he loaded his pistol in front of her. He said he apologized and after a couple days she returned home. He said that around this time is when they were having all these problems and all their wedding plans were falling apart. He then stated that around June 24th or 25th ... again stayed out late drinking with her friends so he told her that he felt it was best that she move out. He said he agreed to let her take his Jeep due to having sold her car. He said that she even made a car payment and insurance payment on the vehicle during June. He said that on June 26th, Amanda's parents came to Beaufort to help her move while he was at work. He said that since then they have spoken and he felt that maybe they had rushed the wedding plans and so they were talking about trying again. He said that they went out to dinner on the evening of July 3rd and that everything went great, so they decided to spend the afternoon of the 4th together. He said they went to Coligny Beach and hung out by the Tekki Hut relaxing and having some drinks. He said that his friend Glenn Davis called and they decided to go to his house to freshen up and find a place to watch fireworks. He said wllile they were at Gleim's house they continued to drink, saying - was drinking Sailor's rum and then they all began doing shots of Petron XO tequila. He said that his friend told them they could go to a 50 foot yacht that was parked in Harbour Town Marina. Novak said that Glenn called a cab and took the cab from Glenn's house all the way to Bluffton to pick up one of

fiiend, who and then all the way to Harbour Town. He said that while driving to Harbour Town they to the Petron XO, which Glenn had put into a flask so they could take it with them. Novak believed they finished it before they got the Harbour Town. He said when they got to the yacht it was moored right next to the Calvert's boat. Novak said that everything went well until around the time of the fireworks, when ... began using profanity in front of the child of the people who owned the yacht. He said he asked her to stop and even to leave which made it worse and they began arguing to the point they were asked to leave the area by the yacht owners. He said at that time the

's left together after Amanda Millinton apologized to him for what happened and he and separately from them. He said this was around 2130 or so. Novak said it took them a long time

to find a cab but they eventually left the area in a cab and when they pulled up to the gate at Glenn's development they saw a mini van parked by the gate. He said the mini van moved so they could get by and then they drove through the gate and the mini van followed them through the gate and all the way to Glenn house. He said he and Glenn got out and began telling the driver that he was not allowed to come through the gate without a code, to which the driver said he was just dropping a girl off, at which time he saw

getting into his Jeep. Lou said he ran over to her and told her she could not drive because she was told her to just go into the house and she could sleep there. He said she locked the door and started to roll the manual window up as he was trying to stop her by holding the window at which time his fmgers became stuck in the fiame. Novak's fmgers, just below the knuckles, had slight redness and his left hand was slightly swollen. He said the frame to the window was damaged during this time. Novak said when he got his fingers free he then jmnped into the back of the Jeep that was open because the top was off and was trying to pull the keys from the ignition when began hitting him with her purse and other things and also scratched him. He said that he continued to try to keep her away from him by shielding himself with his left atm and was trying to get the keys with his right hand. He described his position as his legs being up over the back seat, his upper body was between the two bucket seats. Novak said during this time-. bit him so hard it broke the skin and he instinctively punched her one time on the right side of her face between the eye and the ear area. He said once he hit her he realized what he did and stopped, he said he immediately saw her face swelling and turning red. Novak said he then jumped out of tl1e back of the jeep and ran to hide in some bushes hoping that would allow her to calm down and maybe go inside. Novak said after a few minutes he saw her leaving in the Jeep, he said she was yelling his name as she was leaving the area trying to get him to come out from hiding. Novak said he ttied to call his father and have him pick him up, but his father could not get to him at that time so he returned to Glenn's house.

Novak said he did not realize how bad his own injuries were until he got up the next morning and then he knew that he could not stand duty looking like he did so he called Sgt. Runnion and asked him to cover the duty for him and explained what happened. He said that Runnion called SSgt Viens who in turn notified Capt McSwain who directed him to file a police report. He also said that he went to the hospital to have his if1iuries looked at, but he said he lied to them telling them that he fell down. He provided me a copy of the hospital papers he was given. Novak said he is working on a written statement and would provide it to me when he gets it finished. He also said he is having his father and his father's girlfriend complete statements because they were at Harbour Town and saw what led up to this incident. Novak continued to state that he is the victim and was the aggressor, but he did not want her arrested.

Telephonic Contact with On 07-08-09 I spoke via telephone who related she was in Columbia with her parents

that after this incident she was so that she decided to leave Beaufort once her shift at the hospital was over. She said that she doesn't understand how Lou could have done this to her and agreed to meet with me on 07-09-09 when she returned to Beauf01t.

Telephone Voicemail: On 07-09-09 I activated my cellular telephone and discovered that I had a voicemail from the previous

night from-.. She said that two of Lou's friends had called her and one told her that all of BCSO was having a manhunt trying to fmd her and that I was going to arrest her when I found her. She also said that one said she should not say anything to me and that she should get a lawyer. I told her that I was not going to arrest her when I saw her that I was doing an official investigation and thus I wanted to interview her in person. I told her that once I was done interviewing her I was going to leave and she was free to do whatever she felt like doing at that time. She said I could meet with her at her office in Hilton Head Hospital at 1000. I asked her who called and she said Paul Linton and his wife called after Paul spoke with Lou.

Contact with-: On 07-09-09 I met with- at her office. I advised her that I would like to audio tape the

interview and she said OK, and then said she did not want the interview taped, saying it made her nervous, so I stopped the recorder. I asked her when she fust contacted BCSO for assistance and she said when she went to work Sunday night and the people at the hospital saw her black eye they said BCSO had to be called, She said she met with Deputy Pmsinowski and his supervisor Karen Denim. She said that she had already provided a detailed statement and that she could not think of anything that she wanted to change in that statement. I told her that I had read the statement and was familiar with what she reported so that I wanted to review a few things with her and she agreed.

She initially related nearly the same history as Novak had detailed in his interview, to include how everything went so well until her family decided they would not be able to give them the $5,000.00 that they initially thought they would be able to do. She said that Lou always felt this was a sign that they did not want her to marry him, when in fact it was just that they could not afford to give them the money. She said that once that happened Lou's entire attitude changed and he started to get upset and start yelling for no apparent reason. She said he became extremely moody and had extreme mood swings. She said she tried to tell him they did not need such a fancy expensive wedding but he always said they had already told everyone what they were doing and is was embarrassing to back down now. She said the entire plan fell apart during the month of June and they ended the engagement because of these issues and his anger issues.

I asked her about the incident she mentioned in her statement about a pistol and she said that was partly her fault for going out with her friends and not telling him, she said she knew that if she went out without telling him he would get mad, but she did it anyway and that when she got home he locked himself in the

spare bedroom and refused to talk with her about their issues. She said that she popped the lock and demanded to speak about the situation, but he refused. She said that she knew she was pushing the issue and that she knew that would make him mad. aid Lou got out of the bed, he was still dressed, picked up his BCSO pistol from somewhere, she was not sure but said maybe under the pillow and then he dropped the thing that holds the bullets on to the floor from out of the bottom of the pistol. She said he picked it up and did something real loud with the pistol and walked out of the house. She said when he did this with the pistol is scared her like she had never been scared before by him. She said after he left she packed a few things and went to stay with a friend for a couple days. She said that he apologized for doing that with the pistol and said they should go to counseling for their issues together so she moved back home.

said all was well for a little while but the next time she went out with her friends he told her that she had to move out and the engagement was off. She said her parents came the next day and helped her move. She said while she was moving out their friends, the Lintons, from across the street came to see what was happening, they asked her if this was because of the gun incident and both said Lou was really wrong for doing that to her.

I asked her if she had any idea why Lou was having these mood swings and she said it's because he is mixing his medicine with alcohol. She said he is taking a steroidal testosterone booster gel that he rubs onto his skin each day. She said she is not exactly sure what it's for, but it's a steroidal substance so it is causing him to be moody and to become angry for no apparent reason. She said that she is also taking medicine for weight loss, called Phenermine, but that she is slowly cutting back because she has lost all the weight that she wants to loose. She said this whole incident is mainly alcohol related in her opinion. She said that Lou is normally a sweet and loving guy, but believes the stress of the wedding, the money issues and his mixing the medicine with alcohol is too much for him and caused him to do something extreme. She said she still loves him but realizes now they can not be together.

I asked her to tell me what happened on the 4th and she said they were at the beach drinking beer all aftemoon, she said they had four or five beers apiece, then went to Glenn's house where they continued to drink rum and then an entire bottle of coffee flavored Petton tequila, plus some beer and/or wine at a boat in Harbour Town while watching fireworks. She said her and Lou began arguing because she used a cuss word in front of a kid on the boat and that embarrassed him. She said Lou is very worried about what others think about him and he likes to hang around with all these wealthy people, so when they became upset for her using a cuss word then Lou got mad. She said that Lou told her to leave so her and her friend Amanda left to find a cab, but they did not have any money so they could not find a ride. said that her friend eventually got her boyfriend to come pick them up and take her back to Glenn's so she could get the Jeep. She said when they anived at Glenn's they could not get through the gate so she was trying to

call Lou, but her phone broke so she could not get through to him. She said that they sat by the gate until a cab pulled up and that was when they realized Lou and Glenn were in that cab so they followed them through the gate to Glenn's house. She said Lou and Gleim got out of the cab and began yelling at the driver saying he had no right to come through the gate. She said she got out of the van and into the Jeep to dive home. -said her friends then drove away and that was when Lou went crazy when he saw her in the Jeep. She said he ran at her screaming so she locked the door and started to roll up the window because he was screaming at her to get out of his Jeep and that she was not allowed to drive it anymore. She said that he was pulling down on the window glass as she was rolling it up. She said he pulled so hard on the glass it bent the door frame slightly outward and then he jumped into the back of the Jeep behind her reached around with his left arm pinning her against the seat with his arm being across her neck and chest area while he was also trying to get the keys. She said she was so scared at this point due to the way he ran at her yelling and then bending the door frame that while she was phmed to the seat she grabbed a Palmetto Pass and swung it backwards over her right shoulder several times eventually hitting him hard enough that he fell back across the back bench seat covering his face yelling she hit me. said she was scared and looked back to see if he was OK. She said she turned and looked between the bucket seats and saw him holding his face, then he looked at her and punched her very hard on the right side of her face by her eye. She said it dazed her and she could feel he was grabbing at her again so she just began swinging, scratching and punching at him to get him off her during which time she said she knows she also bit him at least once. She said that she did not know what else to do because she was so scared from him punching her. She said Lou eventually jumped out of the back of the jeep and ran into the woods to hide. She said that was when Glenn, who was just standing outside the Jeep the whole time told her to come inside, so she went inside to use the bathroom. She said she saw her face was already swollen and her eye appeared to be black already. She said she grabbed her things from inside and then left the area. She said while she was doing this Lou was hiding in the woods.

lllliiiiiiiiD said she drove to Lou's house to get her dog and she also took a spare cellular telephone, due to hers breaking earlier as well as a few of other personal things from the house. She said that she texted Lou to tell him that she had a black eye. She said he texted her "Please help me" so she called him and he said he was hurt in the woods that something bit him and asked her to come get him. said she was too scared to go back near him at that time. She said they texted back and forth several times later that morning and he eventually told her that he filed a police rep01i and that he was loosing his job for this. She then asked me if he was suspended or if he was going to loose his job. I told her he was not suspended at this time and that I could not say if he would loose his job. She said it was wrong what he did, but she did not want him to loose his job, because he loves being a cop and she worried what he might do to
