City
The desert coast is the birthplace of some of the most important Pre-Columbian cultures of Peru: the Moche, Chimú, and Sicán, who thrived in fertile coastal river valleys, on the seashore, and in the dry Equatorial forest.
The Moche Route highlights the main architectural remains –huacas (sacred sites), pyramids, and huge mud cities, like Chan Chan, largest in Pre-Hispanic America– and includes visits to the most contemporary museums that display gold, ceramic, and textile artifacts, as well as mommies of important rulers from the regions. All of this, surrounded by incredibly beautiful countryside.
In the middle of the country sits the city of Cajamarca, the first place the Spanish met the Incas and site of the infamous Rescue Room for Atahualpa.
The rainforest was the cradle of amazing cultures, like the Chachapoyas, who constructed the powerful fortress of Kuélap on top of a rugged mountain in the midst of lovely wild country.

Abundant NaturePeru is one of 17 mega diverse countries on Earth.
Just in the northern zone, more than 1200 animal species have been registered, among them being endemic birds like the marvelous spatuletail (Loddigesia mirabilis) and the white-winged guan (Pe-nelope albipennis).
Eastward, there is the Amazon, the largest tropical rainforest in the world, filled with virgin country, waterfalls, lakes, and natural reserves. It also is habitat of indigenous communities and a countless number of unique plants and animals in the world.
There is a legend that speaks of a monstrous snake named Yacumama which joined with the earth and transformed into a river in order to preserve life. That river is the Amazon.
Main sites to visit:
From the cities of Tumbes and Piura Tumbes Mangrove National Sanctuary, Tumbes National Reserve, and Cerros de Amotape National Park.

dventures au natural It’s summer all year long on Peru’s northern coast, and on its warm beaches, you will find the perfect place to relax, ride some awesome waves, or even sail on the “caballitos”, traditional canoes that are built by hand using reeds and have been used by fishermen since the Pre-Colombian era.
The surf on the Peruvian coast is one of the most consistent in the world, with a diversity of currents running north to south. The best months for surfing are October and March.
Reaching the beaches is relatively easy from the Pan American Highway. There are hotels, lodges and many restaurants found on each beach. We recommend hiring specialized services to visit beaches like Lobitos, Poémape, and Cabo Blanco, with world-class surf.
A trip to the northern region of Peru is an invitation to experience Peru’s different facets: its exuberant nature and the legacy of an ancient past, whose cultural expressions are still alive today, as well as to visit its most modern museums, to enjoy the extremeness of adventure sports, and to relax in a the pleasurable treatments at first rate spas and a stay in a boutique hotel, or to delight in exquisite local food.

Main sites to visit:

dventures au natural It’s summer all year long on Peru’s northern coast, and on its warm beaches, you will find the perfect place to relax, ride some awesome waves, or even sail on the “caballitos”, traditional canoes that are built by hand using reeds and have been used by fishermen since the Pre-Colombian era.
