Help Us Make YOUR Club Better!Your club, the North Shore ARC, has manyactivities on the go at the present but thatdoesn't mean we can not have more!

- Weekly Net and code practice> Field Day- Sermon on the Mount- Corn Roast

- Christmas Party- monthly newsletters> Jamboree On The Air (Scouts)- Guides On The Air (Guides)> Canoe the Nonquon- Canadian National Exhibition

and MORE!Even with all this excitement there is still room

for improvement. The following are someideas that have come up as possible additionsto our burgeoning list.

Elmering!

Dxpeditions!Let's contact a Provincial Park and see if theywould appreciate an Amateur Radio weekendand have it open to all campers to come andenjoy. Provincial Parks quite often havespecial facilities for such events. Better still, find a Provincial Park on an island such asManatoulin and we double as an Island On

The Air station which would bring so manycontacts we would need a Pentium computerto keep up with the logging. Maybe you havesomething else in mind like a trip up to MooseFactory or operating from a yacht on one of theGreat Lakes?! Let your mind go wild and let'ssee if we can't put together a expedition fornext summer.

Kits 8c Projects! How many kits have you put together lately!?Maybe we should try to put together a "Kit &Project" night that would meet a couple oftimes a month. Get together and buildantennas, receivers, transmitters, filters, dummy loads, etc. and have fun at the sametime.

Ever wonder why so many of the students thattake the course don't bother to renew theirmembership? Even though we have excellentinstructors that teach these students all the

theory, regulations, and code, they can't teachthem hands-on use of equipment (nor shouldwe expect them to... they already give willinglyone night a week for over half a year to teach!)or introduce them to all the members of the

club so that they can make new friends. Well, what about sitting in on some of the classesand chatting with the students before and afterthe class and during the break time. Be thereto answer questions and extend an invitation tocome over and sit in your shack and operateyour equipment while you are teaching themproper operating procedures. Who knows, youmay strike up some great friendships andbecause of YOU our membership roll mightgrow!

Special Events! This is one that may take a bit of research butwhat about finding some place or annual eventin the NSARC area that is celebrating aspecial anniversary and set up a special eventstation. Recently a few amateurs set up astation at a local fair and had a great timeshowing people the joys of our hobby. This isalso another way to get people interested inradio.

Caution! All the above suggestions can be lots offun and maybe even a bit addictive! Maybeyou have some even better ideas that youwould like to try. Please, let us know at theclub meetings or by mail of any suggestionsyou have. Now we realize that not everyone isgoing to want to do everything, but the morevariety of activities we have going the betterchance we have of getting everyone involvedin our club. Help us make YOUR club better!
