NORMAG Falling Film Evaporator FFE
The NORMAG-Falling film evaporator is due to istwide operation range from 0,01 up to 1 bara andthe robust and corrosion resistant design ideal forthe flexible requirements in laboratories andexperimental halls. Due to its modular design theevaporator can be combined e.g. with acondenser or a distillation column. Especially thisflexibilty, the product sensitive operation and thevery good reproducibility of results makes thedifference to other evaporators such as electricalheaters. The evaporator itself is – as illustrated – a verticalevaporator tube, heated by oil or steam. At theinner tube of the evaporator rinses – illustratedlight brown – a thin and equally distributed liquidfilm downwards and is partially evaporated. Thevapor and remaining liquid flow cocurrent into thesump and will be separated in the vaporous sidestream and the – dark brown illustrated – liquidhold-up. The liquid overflow is level controlled. Amajor part of the hold-up will be redistributed ontop of the evaporator by the NORMAG magneticpump and the - dark brown illustrated - innerpump tube for pre-heating of the liquid ontoevaporation temperature.

Feed-Degasser: In the feed to the evaporatorincludes are inert gases or airsoluted. The content can bedetermined most times by thepressure and temperaturewhile the feed is in contact withthe gas. For Evaporation processeswith a relatively high solutedgas content of the feed andextremely low pressures atmoderate pressures is pro-posed, since this will reducethe rising volume flow of non-condensable gases from theevaporator to the vacuumpump system. Modularity: The evaporator can easilymodular adapted with variousother modules, in most caseswith - a descending condenser - a distillation unit as illus-
trated NORMAG-quality: The NORMAG sign on eachglass component ensures reli-able components in highestquality due to customer re-quirements. Specific dimen-sional & tolerance validationand for complete units func-tional tests ensure our quality Engineering An application specific supportfor the evaporator type choice, the calculation of the requiredheating power and thermalstress can be given byNORMAG. These data areimportant for a later scale-up. Exemplarily is the illustratedheat transfer, the k-value, de-pending on various factors,e.g. the feed rate.

Example distillation: The feed from the vesel O1 isfed by the pumpe P01 into thecolumn K01/2 and rinsescounter-current to the upstream-ing vapor into the the falling filmevaporator W01. The remainingliquid is collected in the sump ofthe falling film evaporator, pumped with the NORMAG-pump S01 onto the evaporatortube and is then partially andwell controlled evaporated. Bythis evaporation the columnpressure difference is controlledwith respect to the sump tem-perature by thermostate TD2 andthermofluid temperature by TD1to ensure a sensitive and wellreproducable evaporation. The sump product will be drawnby an overflow in the falling filmevaporator via cooler W04 andpump P02 in the vessels B04/05.The sump volume is small com-pared to the column volume.Cause of this the product will beonly for comparably short timethermally stressed and, in addi-tion, the column equilibrium ismuch quicker adjusted. Typical applications: - Lab and Experimental hall
- for thermally sensitive pro- ducts - for high reproducability - for scale-up
- Production Juice, milk, Aroma recovery,various chemicals & pharma-ceuticals
