Kids aged 6-18yrs can learn to sail with Youthsail instructors. The Tackers Level 1 program, Yachting Australia’s junior introduction program for 6-12yrs is a 5-day program with morning tea, lunch and Tackers pack provided. For previous Tackers level 1 sailors, level 2 and 3 programs are also available – cost $395 for the week.The normal holiday program is for older children, those who have some sailing experience, or those who can only attend a day here and there. Mountain bike school holiday camps for children 5-16yrs will be held for beginner and intermediate levels, focusing on skills, safety, confidence and FUN! The two 3hr sessions with experienced instructors will be run over two consecutive days for various levels, based on age and riding ability. Parents are welcome to drop and go or stay and play.Cost is $75 per rider – bikes and gear available. Prehistoric friends take over Australia Zoo for a new Jurassic-themed treasure hunt and special fossil exhibits. Dinosaur hunters will go on an educational journey back to the Jurassic era and learn how Australia Zoo's animals such as crocodiles, birds, rhinos and kangaroos are connected to dinosaurs.

It's an educational adventure for the whole family to enjoy together – with a special treasure as a reward at the end! Also see Robert Irwin's personal dinosaur fossil collection, an Allosaurus statue, Bruce the roving dinosaur, screenings of the original Jurassic Park film at 1pm daily in the Crocoseum, special dinosaur-themed Zoo Keeper for a Day programs and pony rides and free face painting (weekends only).

Hear the sounds of the world beneath the surface of the Noosa River in an amazing new installation, WIRA, as part of Floating Land 2015: Reflect and Re-imagine. The festival, under way now until 18 October, celebrates art and the environment, with outdoor art installations, an exhibition and activities around Noosa.

WIRA – River Listening, created by composer Dr Leah Barclay is an interactive sound installation streaming around the world, accessed through a smartphone app. Walk along the river between Noosa Regional Gallery and the rivermouth and experience sounds of the Noosa River system, layered with sonic art, stories and soundscapes from Floating Land over the past 10 years.

Pick up a map from the gallery and download the free app Recho to your iPhone or iPad (Android users can stream from leahbarclay.com/portfolio_page/wira/ or you can listen to the soundscapes inside Noosa Regional Gallery). The entire walk takes about 1 hour or experience sections at a time.

The gallery is hosting a retrospective Floating Land exhibition, and more installations will be revealed soon.

Street luge, classic luge, downhill skateboarding and gravity bike racing as more than 50 professional and amateur competitors take part in the final round of the Australian national championship circuit for luge, held on this renowned racetrack in Tewantin National Park. Free for spectators. Practice from 7am on Saturday 26 September, qualifying runs noon-4pm. The action on Sunday 27 September is from 7am-3pm.The track has great spectator zones up the hill where you can watch all the action.
