Maintenance Tip of the Month

ILLEGAL PLUMBING HOOK-UPS

“Please help us to help you”

Illegal plumbing hook-ups are the connection by residents of any unauthorized device to their plumbing system at Park La Brea. This includes washers, water filters, shower filters, bidets, etc. These devices are typically connected with plastic or poly tubing. This tubing can rupture causing water damage to you and your neighbors. Additionally these devices have water diverters or mixing valves that can permit hot or cold water to mix and override into the opposing system due to pressure changes. The end result is that apartments have hot water in the cold lines and vice versa. This can disrupt the normal expectation of water temperature delivery to many units on the same line.

These devices will be disconnected when we find them. Additionally, you can be charged for the time we spend tracking and tracing these illegal hook-ups and the damage that can occur to your neighbors.

Please refrain from the installation of any illegal hook-ups. Courtesy of Bruce C. Manning Director of Maintenance, Able
