NigeriaFor the world cup homework I have been assigned to research Nigeria.
• Nigeria is an African country.• The climate has 2 dry seasons – It is hot and humid in the south all year round and
hot and dry in the north.• Nigeria has a population of 154,729,000 people.• Nigeria have never won a Soccer World Cup and have played in 3.• The country of Nigeria is currently divided into 36 different states and Abuja, which is
the federal capital Territory.• Abuja is a planned city and was built during the 1980s. It became the Capital City in
December 1991. Lagos was the previous Capital City.• Millennium Park is the largest public park of Abuja. It was officially opened by the
Queen in December 2003. One side of the park is dedicated to organic nature – protected tree species and animals. The Cotton Tree is the Holy Tree of Abuja.
• Nigeria officially became a nation of the Commonwealth in 1960.• Nigeria has competed at 11 Commonwealth Games from 1950.• Nigeria lost it’s first bid to host a Commonwealth games – 2014 – to Scotland.

• Soccer is a team sport and is played between two teams of eleven players• The aim of the game is to get the most goals within the time limit.• The game is played on a green grass field with a goal at each end of the field.• The very first FIFA world cup was held in Uruguay in 1930.• Thirteen teams competed in the 1930 FIFA world cup.• Brazil is the only country to have played in every world cup.• Brazil also hold the record for the most wins at 64.• A yellow penalty card can be used during a game to represent an Official caution against a player for any misconduct or wrongful play during a game.• A red penalty card is used for a more serious offence during a game and the
player must leave the field immediately and can not return to play or play in the next match.
• Two yellow cards mean the same as a red card.
South Africa
• South Africa is known for a diversity of Cultures and Languages and is located on the southern tip of Africa.
• South Africa recognizes 11 Official languages. Isizulu is the most common language spoken by nearly a quarter of the population.
• The population of South Africa is 49.32 Million people and African’s make up 79.3% of the total population.
• The Capital city of South Africa is Pretoria.• Green Point stadium in Cape Town is one of the two
venues to host the FIFA World Cup 2010. It can hold 64,100 people.
