The Buck Stops with You: Getting Employees to Embrace Change Upon communicating change to employees, have you ever heard, “When is management going to understand it is the real world down here?” How about, “If my boss would just get off my back and let me do my job, everything would be okay!” Or, “Why can’t they leave well enough alone?” These expressions reflect symptoms of employees resisting change, but more importantly, leaders potentially not fulfilling their responsibility to communicating change. This class is designed to help leaders communicate change and help employees overcome resistance. Common sense says, if employees are good at resisting change, a leader needs to be just as effective in getting them to accept change.

Webinar: Practicing Management Without a License: Consequences of Careless LeadershipWe all realize that the quality of a leader’s behavior impacts, either positively or negatively, the performance of employees. But have we really considered the unintended consequences of poor leadership? Employees who don’t understand their supervisor’s instructions or expectations won’t perform to their potential. Leaders who don’t communicate vision and rationale for change find lowered morale in their employee ranks. This failure to lead effectively results in reduced productivity, job satisfaction and ultimately, the company’s bottom line. So leaders, new or experienced, brush up on your skills and earn your license to lead!

Why Gamble?: Interview Strategies for Successful HiringHiring a great candidate can seem like a roll of the dice, but you can take chance out of the equation by preparing well for the search process. This class will provide the necessary tools to help you conduct strong interviews that result in successful hires. You can start with a strong candidate pool, but it won’t do you much good if the interview process is sloppy, disjointed and poorly planned. A great interview process includes attention to the interview committee make up, choosing the most appropriate style from the various types of interviews, practicing interview techniques and selecting thoughtful and legal questions. You can also increase your odds for a great hire by understanding previous hiring mistakes. So, don’t play the hiring lottery! Running a good interview is a sure bet.

Create Free Presentations with PreziHow many times have you suffered through a slideshow presentation during which the presenter read text on the slides to the audience? Painful, right? Break free from the linear slideshow format! Prezi.com is a free web-based presentation design tool that allows placement of text, graphics and other elements on a blank ‘canvas’. The presenter then runs the show so that it appears like a camera lens zooming, panning and rotating around the canvas to highlight detail or provide a big picture view of the subject. Prezi can be downloaded, presented remotely live, embedded in a website, or shared via the URL. There is no software to download or install. You will also learn the best practices for creating presentations using any software. This class is well-suited for business people, teachers, students, or anyone else who creates presentations.
