NGMS Summer Reading 2018:
7th Grade Activity
For each book you must answer the following questions.
You may type or handwrite this assignment on your own
paper.
This assignment is due Friday, August 17.
Please answer the following in a sentence or two.
● Write the title and author of your book at the top of the page. Be sure to capitalize and
punctuate correctly.
● Favorite quote, phrase, or sentence in the book. Why did you choose this?
● Draw an image or create a visual about your book. The image should be a symbol that
represents your book, and it should include a one sentence explanation of its
significance in the text.
Answer the following question in a well-developed paragraph.
● What does the book mean to you? How does it relate to the world around you?
NON FICTION: Please choose TWO of the following prompts to answer in a well-
developed paragraph for each. You will write TWO paragraphs.
● Analyze TWO important people from the text using the following questions: How do
they influence the events of the text? How do they influence others? What is their
significance in history?
● Analyze TWO important events from the text using the following questions: How do
they influence the people or other events of the text? What is their significance in
history?
● What is the book trying to say about life? What is the main point the author is trying to
make? How is the author trying to change or update the worldview of the reader?
FICTION: Please choose TWO of the following prompt to answer in a well-
developed paragraph for each. You will write TWO paragraphs.
● Analyze TWO important characters from the text using the following criteria or
questions: You need to include the character’s name, an important character trait and
action. You must include an explanation of how this character impacts the text.
● What is the theme of this book and why? Please use evidence from the text to support
your answer.
● Analyze TWO conflicts from the text using the following prompt/question: Describe the
two conflicts and how they interact with each other. How do the conflicts impact the
story?
