Unit: Scooter Lesson Focus: Safety and teamwork
Equipment Needed:
Open gym space
30 Scooters
4 Frisbees
20 Cones
8 Volleyballs
16 Bowling pins
16 pennies
Student Prerequisites:

Student Objectives: The student will be able to
1. (Psychomotor): Students will be able to participate in physical activity for at
least 60% of the class period.2. (Cognitive): Students will be able to verbalize the different learning cues
presented to them for movement. Students will be able to communicate withother students to stay safe achieve a goal.3. (Affective): Students will be able to appropriately participate in activities
that develop proper skill and techniques for each of the scooter activities.
Students will be able to participate in activities while staying in their ownspace. Students will also be able to demonstrate active listening skills.
National Standards:
Standard 1:Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to
perform a variety of physical activities.

Health-Related Fitness (HRF) Component & Activities that Support Learning of
HRF:
Muscle Endurance: The variety of games in this lesson will require the students to make
many repeat movements. When on a scooter the legs are going to have to make many
repeated movements to travel from one area to the next. The students will also have toacquire throwing a ball from the sitting position.
(2 minutes): Warm-upDescription and Management: The class usually comes in and runs for 2 minutes. I am
going to keep that agenda and have the students run around the gym to get their bloodflowing
(4 minute) Set Induction:
Since this is my first time teaching in the school I will introduce myself to the students.After I introduce myself I will ask the students of their prior knowledge of the scooter
games. I will then explain the activities for the class to the students. I will then stress theimportance of safety. To ensure safety I will explain my expectations of the students.
(2 minutes)Activity 1: ScooteringDescription and Management: In an open space the students will scooter to the oppositeend of the gym and back.
Task Development: Students will demonstrate that they are able to use the scooter properly
and without problems.

(10 minutes) Activity 2: Ultimate Scooter Bowling Bonanza
Description and management: In an open space in the gym the students will be split into 4
teams. Each team will take one side of the gym. There will be two games so there will be
team 1 vs team 2 and team 3 vs team 4.Task Development: Students will start out by playing a game of ultimate on their scooters.
Instead of scoring a touchdown, the students have to knock over the 4 bowling pins with
the ball. First team to knock down all 4 pins scores a point.

Form while throwing the ball.

(10 minutes) Activity 3: Scooter Scoring FrenzyDescription and Management: In an open gym space students will play a game of scooter
basketball. Each team will have their own side of the gym. Each team will defend their owntargets
Task Development: Students will have their own fourth of the court. Each team will play a
new opponent. This way teams can get a new competition. Students will dribble, shoot, and
pass the ball while still on a scooter. Students will have to stay on their scooters or theother team will get the ball. There are three ways to score. The team can get one point by

throwing the ball and knocking over a bowling pin. The team can score two points if they
pass the ball to a teammate past the cones. The team can score three points if they
successfully throw the ball through a hula-hoop that is hanging from the basketball rim.Extensions (E):

(1-2 minutes) Closure:
I will have the students put their equipment away. I will then ask them what they have
thought about the lesson. I will thank them for their participation and then have them get
into their class lines.
