WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

1. Digital Storytelling Digital Storytelling, is a modern way to use multiple media to tell stories. This 2-day hands-on workshop will equip teachers with the knowledge on how to teach their students to tell stories using different types of media like still and digital photos, videos, sound and digital graphics. It will touch on different topics including introduction to film production, scriptwriting, sequence treatment, basic camera functions, framing, continuity, lighting principles, basic video editing and rendering. Digital storytelling is being practiced in neighborhood community centers, schools, libraries and businesses, by novice technology users to those with advanced skills. In the field of education, teachers and their students, from early childhood classrooms through graduate school, are using digital storytelling in many different content areas and across a wide range of grade levels. Students can be taught to use this storytelling method to heighten awareness and participation in addressing personal, community and social issues. Trainers: Mr. Vanju Alvaira is the Managing Director of Shutter+Days Video Production and is a faculty member of the Multimedia Department of the School of Design and Arts of the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. The second day of the workshop is for teachers new to designing digital learning. While teachers may be familiar with tools for personal productivity, this course focuses on strategies for integrating technology into digital teaching and learning. Participants complete required and optional activities through which they learn important concepts, try different digital tools, and use their learning to develop resources to use with their students. It will cover four core modules focusing on the 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
