SCHOOL NEWS
3rd July 2020
HEADTEACHER NOTE
How lovely to see the year 5s back in school this week. They have settled in
quickly and seem very happy to be back (the parents even happier!). We are
very much looking forward to seeing the Year 4s next week. Please can I
remind parents to not stand in front of the gates for a catch up - we need to
keep the entrances and exits clear for more children to come into school -
particularly as we welcome more families back in.
STAFFING
I am very pleased to announce the following staffing structure for September
2020. We will be having transition sessions week commencing 13th July (and I
will confirm more details in next weeks newsletter) so that the children can
meet their new teachers.
Reception : Mrs Crook and Mrs Jordan (Mrs Holt covering PPA)
Year 1 : Ms McDonald and Miss Windle
Year 2 - Miss Ashton-Scott
Year 3 - Mrs Boulter
Year 4 - Miss Thompson
Year 5 - Mrs Thompson and Mrs Stevenson
Year 6 - Mrs Satterley
I am very proud of our fabulous staff at Cookham Dean and our new teachers
will be a great addition to the team.
SEPTEMBER RETURN
As you will have heard yesterday on the news, we will be returning in
September in bubbles of 30 (that means normal class sizes to me!). At the
moment, I am not sure of any changes that might need to be made but I will
confirm as and when appropriate.
REPORTS
We will be sending out the end of year reports as follows :-
Reception/year 1/year 4/year 5/year 6 - by 10th July. Year 2/year 3 - by 14th
July. Please read the letter that will be enclosed with the reports carefully as
we are reporting the children's end of year attainment, slightly differently this
year because of the Covid pandemic.
VIRTUAL SPORTS DAY
Well done to all those children who took part in our virtual sports day! It was
lovely seeing all your photos but the house that had the most points was Ruby.
Well done to them.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL GAMES
Don't forget to send in your scores for the Virtual School Games by Monday
AM at the very latest! I have just done this with the year 6 and it was great
fun - and demonstrated how unfit we have all become. So get out your
equipment and have a go. The video clips on the attached are great at
quickly and easily explaining what you have to do. I look forward to seeing
your scores!

AMAZON SMILE
The PTA is now registered as a charity on Amazon Smile, so you can
raise money for the school from the comfort of your home! You can
use this link https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1014698-0 or search
on smile.amazon.co.uk for 'The Parent Teacher Association Of The
Cookham Dean Church of England (Controlled) Primary School'.
OR if you prefer to shop from the app, Amazon Smile can now be linked to the Amazon phone app,
which means it’s even easier to get your donations automatically. First you need to join Amazon Smile,
sign up using your web browser as above. Simply select Cookham Dean Primary School to start
generating donations, at no cost to you. Then download or update to the latest version of the Amazon
shopping app on your phone - you can find it in the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android.
Open the app and find 'Settings' in the main menu (☰). Tap on ‘Amazon Smile’ and follow the
on-screen instructions to turn on Amazon Smile on your phone. (Note: it may take a few hours for your
account to register that you have joined and for Amazon Smile to appear in your settings.) Feel free to
share with friends and family to help support the school too. For other ways to help raise money for the
PTA, check out our page on the school website: www.cookhamdean.org/pta and look for the 'How to
raise money for the PTA from the comfort of your home’ section. Thank you!
