From the Principal

Recently our year 9’s had an excursion to Port Augusta to view the “Wonder” movie as part of their studies in English. The operators of the Cinema recently sent Kate Fitzgerald an email, which I would like to share here: “Thanks for today. Your students were amazing and so well behaved. Roger couldn't get over how clean they left the Cinema and how perfectly behaved they were. It was a pleasure to have you.” Michelle & Roger Coles. Kate went on to share with me, that it was one of the best excursions that she had been on. It is heartening to know that our students can acquit themselves so well when on an excursion, especially when members of the public take time to comment. Well done all.

This has been the week of transition for all students, we made welcome to students who come to us from the Booleroo Centre and District Kindergarten, Wirrabara and Wilmington Primary Schools this week in an assembly on Monday. During the assembly students who were nominated for the 2018 SRC Presidents role addressed the whole student body with their well-considered speeches. Congratulations to Jess Ellard, Emily Baryczka-Quick and Minnesota Cheriton for being well spoken and addressing the whole school on how you would lead the 2018 SRC. Students have voted Minnesota and Emily in as Presidents. Congratulations to you both!

Class SRC nominations have been made with voting taking place at the end of this week, these students will speak to their home groups. I wish them well in their public address and look forward to learning who will be voted in to become members of the SRC.

To all who were able to witness the Kindy/Primary concert last Thursday evening, I am sure you will join me in congratulating every student who participated and thank the staff; Jenni, Jane, Marika, Paul, Tamara and Anthony for their work with the students and in particular Jane and Tamara for adapting the play. Thanks also to Bazz for volunteering to again help Jenni learn the ropes of sound production. Every year parents source new costumes and it is with your efforts the concert shines, thank you. It was a night of fun and laughter with a little learning about history thrown in! Well done everyone.

Jacqui Jones has just delivered the muffins we won earlier in the year from Muffin Break, they look delicious! $15 for a mixed half dozen, get your orders in fast!

A reminder that for end of term dismissal the school close an hour earlier, with buses departing at 2.20pm next

Friday.

Kindy and Rural Care

At this time, I have not been informed of who will be the Director for Term 1 2018 at the Preschool. Alison is planning to return for Term 2 onwards. I was going to fill the position but now will be having a full knee replacement so cannot do this.

We wish to thank the school for including us in the concert, the children enjoyed this so much.

Transition is happening this week for children going to the Booleroo Centre District School. The kindy will also have children attending kindy in 2018 do transition on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

In the last week of term, we will be going on an excursion to the Magic Cave in Jamestown.

On Thursday 14th December we will be holding a pooled lunch for families and community and then having a formal graduation for the children going to school. They will be dressed in a black graduation gown and be presented with certificates, etc.

ALL WELCOME TO ATTEND from 12.30pm onwards. If attending the luncheon, please bring food to share.

Finally, I wish to thank the staff, parents, school and community for your support in 2017 and I wish you all a Merry Xmas and a wonderful 2018. Thanks

Kerry Thomas on behalf of preschool and care staff

Primary School

Congratulation to all the primary students on their

very professional performance of ‘Time Wanderers’

last Thursday night. The time and effort the

students put into learning their parts and the way

they conducted themselves on the night was

outstanding. A huge thank you must go to Jane

Crawford and Tamara Schmidt who put in countless

hours adapting and producing the performance as

our executive producers. Also to Marika Spielhagen,

Jenni Caldwell and Anthony Edgcumbe who were responsible for individual classes. Rob and Russell for setting up

the stage, Ebony Rodda for helping with making props and Bazz for setting up the sound system. Finally, thank you

to the parents who made or sourced costumes which all looked wonderful. The whole experience for the

students is very rewarding and they can be extremely proud of their efforts.

Primary classes have transitioned smoothly into their 2018 classes with the kindy children attending Monday,

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Next year Jenni Caldwell and Jane Crawford will be responsible for the Reception/

Year 1 class, I will have the 2/3/4 class and Tamara Schmidt will be with the 5/6 class. It has been great to see the

enthusiasm of the children as they start in their new year level. A big thank you to all who were involved in

ensuring that the 2018 transition was a success.

Next Monday night is the whole school presentation night which will be held in the school gym starting at 7.00pm. All parents and community members are invited to attend. Primary children will be singing three Christmas carols on the night which they have been busy practising. Children will also be receiving Citizenship awards, Premiers Reading Challenge awards as well as the Year 6 graduation certificates. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Next Thursday the 14th December the primary students will have their class parties at the Booleroo Centre

Swimming Pool starting at 11.00. We will again be have a sausage sizzle lunch with a fruit box and ice cream at a

cost of $5 per student. Students not involved in the sausage sizzle need to bring their own lunch.
