The annual competition is designed to stimulate sci-entific research and publication among residents in rec-ognized oral and maxillofacial surgery training pro-grams. Generously supported by Straumann USA LLC,the awards of $2,000 are presented to the primary au-thors of the winning manuscripts. The AAOMS Commit-tee on Continuing Education and Professional Develop-ment selects the winners. Also, youare allowed to add more pages if necessary. Be sure toinclude your nominee’s curriculum vitae and a suc-cinct statement stating your reasons for nominatingthe individual.

PLAN TO ATTEND THE 2012 DENTALIMPLANT CONFERENCE

It is time to mark your calendars for the 2012Dental Implant Conference, November 29 to Decem-ber 1, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers onChicago’s famous Magnificent Mile.

Robert L. Bunnen, DDS, retired fellowAtlanta, GA

1922 to 2012Dr Bunnen received his dental degree from Em-

ory University in Atlanta and completed his oraland maxillofacial surgery residency at Tufts Univer-sity in Boston. After his residency, he returned toAtlanta and was among the group of physicianswho established Northside Hospital. He was on thehospital staff from 1968 to 1992. Dr Bunnen issurvived by his wife, son, 2 daughters, and 8 grand-children.
