The City of Claremore operates a council-manager form of gov-

ernment under a City Charter. This type of government is one of two main variations of representative municipal government in the United States and is currently used in the majority of American cities with pop-ulations over 12,000. In the City of Claremore’s council-manager form of government, an eight-member, elected City Council is responsible for making policy, passing ordinances, voting appropriations, and having overall supervisory Authority in the City government.

The Mayor performs ceremonial du-ties and acts as a member and pre-siding officer of the Council, similar to a chairman. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and is responsible for supervising govern-ment operations and implementing the policies adopted by the Council. Other towns in Rogers County oper-ate under the town form of govern-ment where the town trustees are elected and then they appoint the mayor and vice mayor. Catoosa has a strong-mayor-council form of govern-ment where the mayor is also elected and is the chief executive officer of the city.

Claremore is the county seat for Rogers County. The county offices are listed below.

e benefits of low-cost, reliable electricity can be found all across a public power community. Low rates, a funding source for other city services and local resources matched to local needs are just a few of those benefits.

IIn fact, public power is right at home in hometowns like Claremore, where the citizens own and operate the electric distribution system. As the community’s wholesale electric supplier, GRDA is proud to partner with Claremore to make those benefits possible.
