PRINCIPAL’S NEWS...

Recently I a ended a Principal’s conference where a key note speaker was Turia Pi . Incase you are not familiar with who she is, Turia suff ered horrifi c burns whilst compe ng in an ultra-marathon event several years ago. Her message was incredibly inspira onal but there was one message in par cular that I thought I’d share. Turia spoke about approaching our daily business / tasks with a new mindset and changing one word. Rather than saying “I have to” in rela on to a task – change the “have” to “get”! She spoke of changing our mindset to an “I get to” a tude. You should try it – it defi nitely creates posi vity!

I wanted to extend a sincere apprecia on to Margie Burns and Chris Connors from Hunter New England Health. They conducted the Father & Son and Mother & Daughter puberty educa on workshops in the Library last Monday. These workshops were both well a ended and were defi nitely worthwhile.

On Friday, it was extremely exci ng to receive our Year 6 photo books. Each Year 6 student will receive a copy at the Farewell event to be hosted on Friday the 14th of December. We always try extremely hard to ensure these books contain pictures of the students from throughout their me at school (Kinder to Year 6) and there are some very cute pictures included!

Please be mindful that much of our footpath area on Hope Street is a designated bus zone. I have been advised that the Highway Patrol will be monitoring the area closely. Please save yourself from being fi ned and avoid dropping off students in this area.

Last Friday, we hosted the fi nal Kindergarten Transi on for 2018. The li le people spent the whole day with us and par cipated in a short gradua on ceremony at the end of the day. Congratula ons to all of our students for comple ng this program and being such champions! We look forward to them joining us for Kindergarten in 2019.

This Friday, Mr Reynolds and KR will host the next assembly. I had the opportunity to watch a rehearsal and it was hilarious! Please join us at 11:50am on Friday to celebrate the successes of our students.

Finally, registra ons are open for our twilight concert. As of this morning, we have 437 ckets booked! Remember that there is no cost involved but to ensure we have the correct quan es of food, we require guests a ending to book a cket. Tickets will be available for collec on from Monday the 3rd of December in the school offi ce.

Have a great week!

Dan van Velthuizen - Principal

2L CLASSROOM NEWS...

A Week in Review There are so many great and exciting events planned this term in 2L. We are practising our 60’s dance moves for our Twilight Concert in week 8, had a delightful visit from Healthy Harold and love our regular Tuesday art lessons.

This term we have also been learning all about Dr Seuss for our literacy unit as well as writing our own amazing narratives.

Along with all these fun activities, our S.M.A.R.T. spelling program is continuing and we love our spelling rotations each morning. Here are some reviews taken from students on the scene.

“Slinky sounds is fun and helps me with my

sounds” – K Hall

“Fun and Magical” – K Dyer-Cleal

“Helps me learn digraphs and graphs!” – M Nieddu
