Hardware Calibration

Both the P-Series and X-Series are perfect to create matched

video walls, reproducing media and images in the colours that

were intended. Advertising Agencies can draw on the benefits

of super-sized content confident of colour accuracy.

Group ID

The group ID feature allows the user to control clusters of

displays in a video wall with one RS232 command. This video

wall feature allows for convenient switching, for example,

changing inputs during a stage presentation which would

otherwise require expensive additional equipment.

Quick Input Change

Avoids long switching times and black screens when switching

between inputs. This can be convenient for video wall

installations where long interruptions are not acceptable.

Copy Settings Function

This feature is a real cost saver. The user can copy all settings

from one display to another with an RS232 cable before

mounting the screen, saving him having to go from display to

display to adjust the settings to the desired level. No PC is

needed for this operation.

Installation of the MediaPlayer Hardware can be

achieved in 6 simple steps;

The CAT 5 Receiver Solution for NEC Public Displays

guarantees uncompromising picture quality

even over longer distances, as well as high cost-

efficiency.

Based on the Minicom DS Vision 3000 system, it helps

to solve the problems often arising in Digital Signage

applications: The signal can be transported almost

without loss over distances of up 600m. This means

that the PC connected to the display doesn’t need to be

installed directly in the vicinity of the display, allowing

a high degree of freedom and flexibility on installation.

In addition, the CAT 5 system can also function as a

splitter when multiple displays need to be deployed,

each displaying the same content. In its maximum

configuration, 256 public displays can be fed by a single

PC, and with one hundred percent synchronicity of the

content. This is clearly a more cost-efficient solution

than having to deploy multiple PCs.

Solutions with and without Option Slot

A fully-integrated module solution without any cabling

has been developed for NEC Public Displays with the

Option Slot, avoiding the need for an external power

supply or for external equipment has both aesthetic as well

as practical advantages.

controlled by one or multiple PCs that often take

up valuable space or need to be hidden away for

aesthetic reasons.

Using the Built-In PC solution, NEC public displays that

have the Option Slot can be fitted with a fully-functioning

PC that is completely integrated within the display.

Easy and Versatile Operation

The built-in PC is integrated in the Option Slot to the

side of the LCD public display, which makes it very easy

to service. A single person can install the computer or

easily swap it out during a service without the need

for any additional assistance. Also, the display or any

associated installation doesn’t have to be dismounted

from the wall.

Since a built-in PC solution allows RS232 communication

with the display, this allows NEC NaviSet® Administrator

to easily control public displays over a network.

An ExpressCard slot for the operation of, for example,

W-LAN, UMTS, DVB-T etc., is also effective at extending

Fully Integrated PC Module Solution

The HDSDI (high definition serial digital interface)

standard is particularly important in the professional

broadcasting sector as well as in medical fields (e.g.

in endoscopy).

The optional HD SDI card that has also been optimised for

NEC displays allows signals as well as SDI signals to be

optimally processed and reproduced on public displays.

SDI signals are supported up to distances of 300 m, whilst

HD SDI signals can go up to 100 m in distance.

The card has been equipped with a “stereo audio function”

as well as a daisy-chaining function, with reclocking and

equalising at up to 1.485 Gbit/s. Using the Option Slot it

can also be completely integrated within an NEC public

display, without requiring any cabling or an external power

supply.

An excellent and clean solution – particularly for the

broadcast market but also for digital signage if signals

need to be digital and distances of up 300m need to be

covered.

Public Displays that show switching and sequential

content create a particularly eye-catching dynamic.

Alongside the possibility of daisy-chaining RS232 and

analogue PC signals, NEC Display Solutions also offers

the possibility of digitally daisy-chaining a PC signal with

its DVI Daisy Chain Board using DVI-D without any signal-

loss. Up to 9 displays can be successively connected

using this option.

A particular feature is that in contrast to analogue daisy-

chain solutions, even at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 at

60Hz there is no discernible difference apparent between

the first and last displays of the chain.

The DVI Daisy Chain Board can be simply and completely

integrated within an NEC Public Display using the Option

Slot. The boards, which are supplied with a high-quality

DVI cable, are not only an elegant and easily-installed

solution, but above all, are also much more cost-efficient

when compared to using a high-quality splitter and all

the necessary DVI cabling.

Touch Solutions, with their increased user-interaction

possibilities, have now firmly established themselves

as an important interface between system and users.

In cooperation with 3M Touch Systems, several NEC public

displays are exclusively available (within Europe) with the

novel Micro-Touch™ Dispersive Signal Technology (DST).

In contrast to conventional solutions, DST technology

is based on measuring the disturbances created by

vibrational energy as it spreads out. The touch solution

can be operated using your hand, but also works through

gloves or with a pen.

The sensor glass also simultaneously functions as

protection glass, so that unattractive “frame overlays”

can be avoided. This means that neither dirt, scratches

nor sunlight impair performance. Navigation is also still

possible, even if a hand is inadvertently laid upon the

display’s surface for support.

An additional plus: its excellent transparency. MULTEOS

and P Series models can also be operated as a touch

solution with an NEC built-in PC. Operating such a free-

standing, flexible installation only requires a power cable.

is available for NEC public displays in the MultiSync®

P401, P461, P521, whilst the corresponding bezel

for the NEC MULTEOS series is available in black.

The optional bezels can be easily mounted and/or

dismounted in a few steps by users.

For the best possible support of the display in stand-

alone installations, optional pedestals are available as

appropriate. In order to save resources as well as to be

environmentally-friendly, these are no longer supplied

as standard with the public displays.
