IONISING RADIATION REGULATIONS 1999
SELECTION OF RADIATION PROTECTION ADVISOR (RPA) UNDER REGULATION 13
NDT MAINCAL LIMITED, as an RPA BODY recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), is able to offer radiation protection advice to radiation employers within the following fields:
1. USE OF X-RAY EQUIPMENT AND RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES UNDER THE IONISING RADIATION REGULATIONS 1999, APPROVED CODE OF PRACTICEAND GUIDANCE MATERIAL
2. KEEPING AND USE OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES UNDER THE ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITTING REGULATIONS 2010 AND THE RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES ACT 1993
3. Other services (not subject to HSE RPA Body recognition)
ADVICE ON TRANSPORT OF RADIOACTIVE SOURCES UNDER THE CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS AND USE OF TRANSPORTABLE PRESSURE EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 2009
All advice provided is under the control of our principal RPA, Mr S. A Wright, who has the following qualifications and experience:
Certificate of Competence to be a Radiation Protection Adviser, issued by an Assessing body recognised by the HSE.
Post-Graduate Degree in Radiological Protection
Over 25 years experience in industrial radiography
Over 15 years experience as an RPA under IRR99 and IRR85
It is the responsibility of the radiation employer to select a suitable RPA. Companies wishing to appoint NDT MAINCAL LIMITED as a RADIATION PROTECTION ADVISOR should respond by returning the attached agreement document.

We, (name of company/organisation) ………………………………………………………….. , wish to appoint NDT MAINCAL LIMITED as our RADIATION PROTECTION ADVISOR under regulation 13 of the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999, to provide advice in the following categories, as applicable to our organisation:
1. USE OF X-RAY EQUIPMENT AND RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES UNDER THE IONISING RADIATION REGULATIONS 1999, APPROVED CODE OF PRACTICE AND GUIDANCE MATERIAL
2. KEEPING AND USE OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES UNDER THE ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITTING REGULATIONS 2010 AND THE RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES ACT 1993
3. Additional advice not subject to RPA Body recognition by HSE:
TRANSPORT OF RADIOACTIVE SOURCES UNDER THE CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS AND USE OF TRANSPORTABLE PRESSURE EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 2009
We understand our responsibility to consult an RPA regarding matters specified in IRR99 and agree to supply NDT MainCal Limited with sufficient information and suitable access to our facilities to enable the company to fulfil its responsibility as RPA.
We further understand that NDT MainCal may decline to give advice on matters it considers to be outside its field of competence.
We agree to abide by the commercial terms and conditions of the RPA contract, as specified in relevant quotations/agreements.
