Ever play a grand piano with the lid lifted? A similar sonic “openness” is how players describe their fi rst SMT experience.

That’s largely due to the material we use to make the soundboard of the SMT - unidirectional carbon fi ber actually have a grain direction, much like a fi ne piece of spruce.

And while unidirectional carbon fi ber shares many of spruce’s favourable acoustic characteristics - lightness, vibrancy - it’s much stronger. A thin slice of fi ne spruce is comparatively weak. It has to be heavily braced to keep the top from caving in to the stress of the strings. Unfortunately this structural bracing also kills sound. Not so with the SMT. Unidirectional carbon fi ber allows us to build an instrument that virtually eliminates the weak notes and dead spots that you’ve come to accept as ‘normal’.

Play an Adamas SMT. The musical possibilities will be nothing short of shocking!
