The Genesis…

The nation abounds with problems of poverty, unemployment, inequity, illiteracy and many more. These present ample opportunities to committed entrepreneurs who can churn out viable solutions to such miseries. Their impetus can create the necessary drives which are missing in the present setups. It is at this juncture, that such efforts require a short in the arm. Their endeavors require a structure which can facilitate their programmes; a platform wherein the knowledge and experiences get pooled and readily disseminated. Thankfully, a new breed of social entrepreneurs is emerging to meet the challenges of the society.

Inaugural Address by Mr. Arun Kumar, Vice President (HR), Hindalco Industries.

Social entrepreneurship is the process of bringing about social change on a major scale. Social entrepreneurs function as the agents of change, questioning the status quo, grabbing the new yet overlooked opportunities, and changing the world for the better. A social entrepreneur is able to convert a gap or an opportunity into a business venture with primary focus on social welfare rather than profits.

The National Seminar on ‘Social The National Seminar on ‘Social Entrepreneurship in India’ was organized Entrepreneurship in India’ was organized as part of the initiatives of DRS I Special as part of the initiatives of DRS I Special
