Establishment :
The Department of Business Administration was
established by Mangalore University in 1981 with noble
objectives of providing qualitative Management Education.
Research, training and consultancy and to emerge as one of
the leading Business Schools in the Country. It is conceived
and developed as a unique department to prepare students
for Management Careers and also strengthen their planning,
organizational and leadership skills.
Recognition & Affiliations:
• The Department is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) of Government of India to conduct MBA programme
• The department has become a member of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) Jamshedpur
• Also the member of Karnataka Tourism Forum for its MBA (Tourism Administration) programme.
About the programme:
• Now, with almost three decades of experience in teaching and training management students, the University has taken the decision to offer MBA (International Business) from the academic year 2009-10. The programme is conducted in the evening at the University College, Mangalore. This is to facilitate the working professionals and other young graduates to further their studies while working. Our University College is accredited with A Grade by NAAC, has competent faculty and very good infrastructure. The College Campus is centrally located in the heart of the city at Hampankatta
Our staff: Dr. Mustiary Begum, M.A., M.B.A., Ph.D. Professor & Chairperson • Prof. Mustiary Begum has been in academics for more than 26 years in Mangalore
University. • Ph.d undertook a research on “Television Advertisement – viewers perception and
responses – A study in selected cities of Karnataka” at doctoral level. • She has successfully guided students for M.Phil & Ph..D. Projects and is currently
guiding students working on their Ph.D. • She has the Co-ordinator, MBA (TA) – 2005-10. Currently she has Chairperson of the
Department of Business Administration, Mangalore University. • She worked as a co investigator for the research project on “Financing of rural artisans –
A study in Dakshina Kannada” in 1989-91 & “Marketing of Bank Services in rural areas – A study in Dakshina Kannada District” in 1990-91, both funded by Canara Bank.
• Under took a study on “Muslim Women Empowerment – A study in Karnataka State” sponsored by University of Mysore & funded by Ford Foundation in 2003.
Dr. Uday Kumar M.A.,
Associate Professor & Coordinator, MBA (IB),
• He has a Doctoral degree in Management for his thesis “A study on Women Entrepreneurship with Reference to Women Entrepreneurs in Karnataka”.
• During 27 years of his teaching experience, Dr. Uday held position of Academic as well as Administrative responsibilities.
• He is a member of the University –Society Interaction Committee set up by the Mangalore University. He is a member in the Academic council of SDM College Ujire, Board of Studies of St. Alosiyus College Mangalore, was a member of the Board of studies of St. Agnes College Mangalore, by the Mangalore University.
• Dr. Uday Kumar has published 15 articles of research interest in National and International Journals.
• He presented about 35 research papers in National and International conferences during the last 12 years.
• He was invited to present papers in South Africa, Thailand, Singapore, Canada and Netherlands.
Dr. P.Pakkeerappa, M.Com., LLB., PGDHRM, Ph.D.Professor
• Prof. P.Pakkeerappa has been in academics and administration for more than 36 years
experience. • He is the Chairman of the PGBOS & UGBOS in Management. He was awarded UGC
Fellowship under FIP in 1992 and effectively participated in Academic Council, Senate, Syndicate Administrative Audit committee, Mangalore University.
• He is also a member of the Faculty BOS and BOE in other Universities in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
• A sizeable member of seminars, workshops and programmes were organized by him, on behalf of the University.
• He was the Chairman, Dean and Director – Student Welfare in the University. He is holding additional charge as Finance Officer of Mangalore University and also the Chairman of Malpractice Enquiry Committee for the last 3 years.
• As a Founder co-ordinator, he started Master of Tourism Administration programme in 2001.
• The University of Surrey, U.K. had invited him to present an empirical paper in an International Tourism Conference in June, 2006. He is a member of NHRD, NIPM and ACU HRM Networks.
Dr. T.Mallikarjunappa, M.B.A., AICWA, Ph.D.Professor
• Prof. T.Mallikarjunappa did Ph.D. in Credit Planning and Monitoring in commercial banks. Currently
engaged in research in Financial Management and Security Analysis Portfolio Management with specific thrust areas such as Capital markets, efficient market hypothesis, capital structure decisions, derivatives, mergers and acquisitions, credit rating, dividend decision etc.
• He was the Finance Officer of Mangalore University from June 2001 to April 2002 and March 2005 to April 2006;
• public representative director of Mangalore Stocks Exchange from 2001-2007, • Member, technical appraisal committee, Department of Minor Irrigation, Government of Karnataka from
2002-2003;• Chairman, Board of Studies for Business Administration and Business Management at Mangalore
University. • Associate member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, Kolkata: Life member, Indian
Society for Technical Education; Member, Association of India, Management Scholars International; Member of Editorial Board, AMIMS International Journal of Management;
• Director, MUECC Society from 1992-1997; Director & Secretary, MUECC Society from 1992-1993; Managing Committee Member, Vishwamangala Education Society from 1992-1993.
• He was the Chairman of the Department of Business Administration and Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mangalore University. He was a member of Academic Council & Syndicate of Mangalore University.
• He is currently Co-ordinator, MBA (Tourism Administration). He has presented papers in National & International Seminars & published papers in National & International Journals. He conducts MDP for executives.
Dr. T.N.Sreedhara, M.Com., Ph.D.Professor
• Dr. T.N.Sreedhara carried out his research on “Fringe benefits in Public Enterprises at doctoral level.
• He undertook a Post Doctoral study on “Japanese third sector and lessons for India”, under the Japan foundation fellowship Program during 1995-96 at Ritsuneikan University, Kyoto, Japan.
• Dr. T.N.Sreedhara completed a major research project on “Third Sector in India” funded by the Ford Foundation.
• He also completed a minor research project on “Small business management” founded by Mangalore University.
• He was the visited scholar during May 2004 at the University of JAMES-I, Spain and offered the course on Third sector and development to international MA students of Peace and Development.
• Dr. T.N.Sreedhara attended ISTR International Conference at Geneva, Swizerland in 1998 & ISTR Asia-Pacific Regional conference at Osaka, Japan in 2002.
• He is a Founding Member of Third sector Research interest group, India and member of International society for Third Sector Research, John Hopkins University, USA.

Mr. Chandrashekhar R., M.B.A. (Finance)Asst.Professor.

Dr. Subhashinisrivatsa, M.Com., Ph.D.Associate Professor
• Dr. Subhashinisrivatsa of MBA (IB), is teaching Commerce and
Management subjects since 1988 and having an experience of 23 years in this profession.
• Her acquired professional competencies are M.A. ion Hindi and Ph.D. Commerce for the thesis work on “Customer service in banks with special reference to customer perception and satisfaction”.
• She also did a Post-graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management in Mysore University.
• She has been honored with a District level Best Teacher award-2007 and State level Best NSS Programme Officer award 2008-09.
Dr. Abbokar SiddiqAsst.Professor
• Dr. Abbokar Siddiq, Asst. Professor at Dept. of Commerce and Management, University College, Mangalore.
• He has teaching experience of more than 15 years for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He did M.Com from Mangalore University and
• he has also been awarded with Ph.D. degree from the same University. Marketing is his area of specialization and interest.
• He has done a lot of research work in the field of Consumer Protection and he has presented several research papers in the National and International Conferences.
• Many of his research articles have also been published in the ISBN Books and Journals.
Dr Jayavantha Nayak Associate Professor
• . His doctorate is in the area of Non Governmental Organizations and Rural Development.
• He visited Toronto, Canada to present a paper in the International Conference in addition to participation in several national conferences.
• He has contributed research papers/articles in several research journals of repute.
• Currently, he is engaged in minor research project sponsored by UGC. Since 1991,
• he is involved in teaching economics for Graduate and Post Graduate students of Mangalore University.
