This program is aimed at training candidates for the job of a “Nail Technician”, in the “Beauty & Wellness” Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner.

Training Outcomes After completing this programme, participants will be able to:

• Prepare and maintain work area: Prepare the equipment, products and work area ahead of service delivery to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of conducting treatments considering the standards of operation of the salon.

• Provide manicure and pedicure services: Perform the manicure and pedicure procedures using appropriate materials, equipment and techniques correctly and safely to meet the needs of the client.

• Provide nail enhancement services using liquid and powder: Use liquid and powder acrylic nails to perform foundational nail enhancement services to suit the client’s natural nail shape and condition.

• Provide nail enhancement services using UV Gel: Perform nail enhancements and overlays using UV gel to improve the appearance of the nails and apply UV gel removal techniques safely and effectively.

• Carry out refill to refinish the nail: Apply suitable filing technique and use correct application to refinish the nail with acrylic/gel system.

• Apply gel polish according to the agreed service plan: Perform application of gel polish in accordance with the organization’s standards of performance and sequences of services.

• Perform electric filing using correct filing techniques: Carry out electric filing using suitable filing techniques, according to the nail condition and following manufacturer’s instructions.

• Provide nail art services: Perform nail art application by decorating nails using various methods and applying false nails or extensions.

• Maintain health and safety at the workplace: Maintain a safe and hygienic environment at the work area to reduce potential risks to self and others.

Guidelines for Assessment

1 Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack will be created by the Sector Skill Council. Each Performance Criteria (PC) will be assigned marks proportional to its importance in NOS. SSC will also lay down proportion of marks for Theory and Skills Practical for each PC.

2 The assessment for the theory part will be based on knowledge bank of questions created by the SSC.

3 Assessment will be conducted for all compulsory NOS, and where applicable, on the selected elective/option NOS/set of NOS.

4 Individual assessment agencies will create unique question papers for theory part for each candidate at each examination/training center (as per assessment criteria below).

5 Individual assessment agencies will create unique evaluations for skill practical for every student at each examination/ training enter based on this criterion.

6 To pass the Qualification Pack, every trainee should score a minimum of 70% in aggregate.

7 In case of unsuccessful completion, the trainee may seek reassessment on the Qualification Pack.
