NABC’s mission is to ensure that the Dutch private sector plays an active and substantive role in driving Africa’s growth in a sustainable and inclusive manner. We action this by: positioning Africa as a preferred destination for trade and investment amongst the Dutch and European business community (Inspire); sharing information on business and doing business in Africa (Inform): accelerating investment in Africa at B2B level and facilitating trade and investment (Catalyse); and establishing a supporting environment and public and private sector networks that foster and promote African-Dutch partnerships (Connect). We have a both regional and strategic focus whose agenda is dictated by our membership base and the Dutch government’s trade development agenda. We have offices in 5 strategically significant markets in Africa i.e. Algeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. Agribusiness, Energy & Infrastructure (which includes oil and gas) and Construction are our main focus sectors. For our team in The Hague, The Netherlands, we are looking for a Program Manager Agribusiness who will focus on our horticulture activities. Duties and responsibilities

Strategically develop and grow NABC’s horticulture portfolio of activities and position in the market both here in the Netherlands and across Africa;

Manage all current horticulture related activities and programs in close collaboration with our partner organizations and network of offices across Africa;

Promote and position the Dutch horticulture industry/ sector, in particular members of NABC, in Africa, based on good market information;

Develop, acquire and manage strategic and relevant horticulture related programs, projects and members;

Inform and advise actors in the Netherlands and Africa about business opportunities and Dutch solutions specific to the horticulture sector, including access to various financial instruments;

Coordinate and collaborate with the local embassies and the regional offices and other sector organisations if and when relevant;

Recognize and exploit opportunities and synergies with Dutch funded ‘aid to trade’ programmes as well as other public and private sector funding instruments for the benefit of our Dutch and African members; and

Overall, support to our horticulture and agribusiness members in the provision of high-quality products and services including reporting to both our members and internally.

Engage in other tasks such as marketing, promotion and branding of your sector across Europe and Africa.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate disposing of the following background: A thematic background with over 3 years in agribusiness, in a commercial and or public

sector setting. Knowledge and experience in program and project management. Minimal Bachelor’s degree, but preferably a Master’s Degree in relevant subjects such as

Agriculture, Economics and or Business Management. A self-starter comfortable with a client facing role. The candidate has had direct

responsibility for acquisition from idea generation to contracting and execution. (S)he is a pro-active networker with a good eye for business opportunities and able to

secure business through members and clients of NABC. Track record in program development / project management / reporting / proposal writing

(experience with European or world bank related bids is a pre); Familiar with key Agriculture Funding opportunities/partners. Experience in consortium

building would be an extra advantage. Able to independently and pro-actively develop, acquire, manage and deliver on large agriculture programs relevant to agriculture (dependent) sector(s).

You have to be familiar with relevant actors in the Agricultural Sector in the Netherlands (experience in Africa or with African firms is a pre). Candidate will have good working relationships with the agricultural sector in the Netherlands.

The candidate should also be fluent in both Dutch and English.

In addition, the following personal aptitudes and skills are required: Strong relationship management and networking skills; a team-player. A service-oriented self-starter mentality, able to define and attain targets within pre-set

timeframes. Excellent diplomatic, social and interpersonal skills, displays sensitivity regarding cultural

differences. Excellent (proposal) writing and communication skills in English, preferably also (basic)

command of Dutch language. We offer
