n the Restless Dead

several brief excerpts from the collected works of Lord Anton Karpov

The events surrounding the death of an individual greatly influences the possibility that a soul will continue to linger on after death. A passionless death, one that has been a long time coming, such as through a wilting illness, will often give an individual time to contemplate their own demise at length, and finally enter the grip of oblivion accepting their fate. However, a death that is brutal, filled with emotion, and forcing the soul to leave behind many thing uncompleted, is more likely to result in a restless specter.

e share this existence with the remnants and revenants of those that lived before, those restless souls that refuse to move beyond, and on to their final resting place. Most are seemingly unaware of their surroundings, focused upon the events of their lives, their various misgivings and lost opportunities. Such creatures are often oblivious to us, and any physical manifestations are often periodic, as the ghosts continue to repeat certain events that were either important to them in life, or had become a repetitive pattern or ritual.

Rage is perhaps the most prevalent in those that make their presence known through physical manifestation. Such crea-tures are filled with hatred for their current situation, believing that they were wronged during their life, and seeking to enact their wrath upon the living. Ghosts that are driven by rage are often blinded by hatred, and their own wrath makes them delusional. They may seek to enact their anger upon those that only have a passing semblance to those that they believe to be responsible for their untimely demise, when those responsible have been dead and gone for years.
