Daimler AG MTC Specification 1/2 Mercedes Benz Technology Center

Preamble

The standardized procedures in the MTC at the Sindelfingen and Untertürkheim sites require that the supplier observes the following described processes, delivery note format, delivery note data transmission and part identification when supplying to the MTC. This forms the basis for the automated receipt of goods, part identification and part tracking in the MTC. The supplier has the option of creating the supply documents in the required format at the Internet supply portal Daimler AG. The goods tags, delivery notes and data transmission delivery notes can be created on the Internet using the application. The regulations contained in Mercedes Benz special terms no.: 29/9; 31/8 and 35/8 also apply along with the following provisions. Likewise, the object of agreement is the Daimler AG

delivery instruction DBL9606.

1 Area of application

1.1 Scope of Validity

The MTC 1/2 is valid for all parts deliveries ( prototype parts / sample parts, etc.) to the MTC (Mercedes Benz Technology Center) at the Sindelfingen and Untertürkheim sites. For the supply of "parts - tools" to the MTC, the same delivery note and data transmission delivery note format as for the parts delivery applies.

1.2 Validity Time-Scale

The MTC specification 1/2 replaces the 1/1 as of October 01, 2002.

2 Delivery of Goods

2.1 Delivery to MTC

The delivery of parts to the MTC is always to take place via the main goods receiving station of the Sindelfingen or Untertürkheim plants. The supplier must ensure that an initial goods receipt is issued at the main goods receiving station. This must also take place for a delivery in person. Main goods receiving station: Sindelfingen plant: Bau 60

Untertürkheim plant: POP Logistik Am Mittelkai 9

The material is to be addressed to the unloading point specified on the order. The unloading point can only be changed in agreement with the procurement logistics section (orderer).

2.2 Delivery to Third Parties

For delivery of parts ordered by the Daimler AG MTC to third parties, the supplier is to send the delivery note duplicate also to the DCAG orderer in the same way as for normal delivery.

2.3 Free of Charge Deliveries

When making free of charge deliveries of parts to the MTC the Daimler AG, the supplier is obliged to provide the goods with appropriate delivery documents additionally marked "delivery free of charge". If the free of charge delivery is subject to an order number, this number must be clearly shown.

3 MTC Specific Details

Due to the detailed technical agreements between the supplier and the Daimler AG Mercedes Car Development, development-specific details must be included with deliveries for prototype builds. These details are additional to the normal information for deliveries to the MTC (Mercedes Benz Technology Center) Daimler AG.

3.1 Specific Data Fields / MTC Data Content

If any of these details appear on the order, the supplier must include them on the goods tag

and the delivery note.

Orderer / Recipient

Inclusion of the name of "Orderer" (Besteller) as given in the order. Inclusion of the name of "Recipient" (Empfänger) as given in the order.

Finas ident no. / Supplier ident no. Finas ident no. Identification number issued by Daimler AG for individual

parts. Given in the order as "Finas ident no.:" Supplier ident no. Identification number issued by supplier for individual parts. The Finas ident no. and supplier ident no. are always in conjunction with an item no. If no Finas ident no. is given in the order and a component ID is provided by the supplier, the supplier can issue a serial supplier ident no. for this part. The component identification with the serial supplier ident no. is to be agreed with the orderer. The supplier ident no. may only be used once for each part of an item number. Measurement and test data can be electronically transferred via the supply portal using the code item number and supplier ident no. or Finas ident no. (information on this is available at the supply portal //http.daimler.covisint.com)

Identifier of Finas ident no./ Supplier ident no.

Identifier that defines the use of the supplier ident no. or Finas ident no. An F is given for a Finas ident no. and an L (Lieferant) is for a supplier ident no. The identifier for Finas / supplier ident no. respectively is to be placed before the Finas / supplier ident no. depending on which is used.

Drawing geometry status (ZGS)

Drawing geometry status of the item number, which is given in the order under ZGS. The supplied ZGS is to be given. If the ZGS of the part differs from that on the order, the ZGS which is supplied is to be shown on the delivery note and goods tag. Example: Order: SNR A2117300230 ZGS 004. If on agreement with Daimler AG the supplier delivers the ZGS 005, then A2117300230 ZGS005 is to be shown on the delivery note and goods tag.

4.2 Parts Identifier

In addition to the goods tag, every part needs a permanent identifier (identifier = sticker etc.). This inscription remains on the part when fitted. It allows clear identification of parts and traceability for the testing phase. The form and size can be defined specifically for parts by the supplier. Metal components or parts used for the power unit (engine / transmission) are not to be bonded with adhesive. The form and type of part marking for these parts is specified in the drawing or defined in agreement between the supplier and Daimler AG of MTC. Example of part marking:

9 Quality Guidelines

9.1 Purpose of QA for Prototype Parts

The purpose of building and testing prototypes and partial bodies is to produce meaningful results for design stage enhancement of individual parts and the overall vehicle. Considering the short build and testing times required, this is only possible if the prototype parts installed are of the appropriate quality.

9.2 Obligation of Supplier for Quality Assurance of Prototype Parts as per VDA

In accordance with VDA 6.1 and 6.3, the supplier is obliged to take appropriate steps to ensure the quality of the supplied prototype parts. If no particular agreements regarding quality assurance have been met with DCAG, the type and scope of prototype part testing is to be determined by the supplier using the following criteria.

• Safety relevance of the component

• Function, material, manufacturing process, etc.

• Protection aim and scope of the components and test vehicles in the respective build-up phase

• Design stage of the component

9.3 Component and Model-Specific Test Specifications for Q-Critical Components

For components with particularly high quality requirements, Daimler AG will provide a component and model-specific test specification. The test specification gives details of:

• Test equipment

• Alignment concept (reference and alignment points)

• Test and measurement specifications (measurement positions and points, test points)

• Tolerance details for reference, measurement and test points

• Test intervals

Page 16: MTC - specification.pdf

The test specification can contain requirements for the geometry, the material, the surface and the function of a component and is a binding basis for the quality assurance of the component at the supplier.

9.4 Documentation of Test Results

The supplier is obliged to secure all quality records and to make them available to Daimler AG on request. On components for which Daimler AG has provided test specifications, the supplier checks the agreed characteristics before delivery, documents the test result and provides Daimler AG with the test report.
