Extract of L’Institut de la Providence in Chile Volume III, page 43 of Supplement

• Translation:

• Moise Loisel, baker in service to Monseigneur M. Blanchet, arrived with our missionaries in Vancouver, Washington en 1856.

• In 1858 he met in California, Jean Campagna, who was arriving from Santiago. After a dispute between the expats, Jean took the resolution –he never executed – to return to Canada and Moise Loisel decided to go to Chile. On the 28 of January 1859, he wrote ……..” I arrived on the 18th at 3 in the morning after a happy journey of 55 days in a German ship called Emilia. The Sisters were surprised to see me; I could hardly respond to the thousand questions….

• While our houses in Chile remained united with ours in Montreal, Moise Loisel lived as an employee with our Sisters in Valparaiso. We ignore what he became afterwards. Mother Bernard told us he died in Chile towards 1880. He had married a Chilean and had several children.
