Julie AndrewsJulie Andrews played in many movies and was extremely popular. Her most classic roles in movies were ‘Mary Poppins’, for which she won ‘Best Actress Award’ at the Academy Awards in 1964. She also played Maria in the musical ‘The Sound of Music.’

Sean Connery

• Sean Connery was the largest and most popular known James Bond actor. He starred in many of the James Bond movies such as ‘From Russia, With Love.’ He won Best Supporting Actor Award at the Academy Awards for role in ‘The Untouchables.’

Doris Day

• Doris Day, started her career with singing and dancing, instead of movies. Her movie career started with ‘Pillow Talk’ and followed with ‘The Touch of Mink.’ She ended with ‘With Six You Get Egg Roll.’

Gregory Peck• Gregory Peck is a

known Hollywood star for his awesome performances, but most people are enthralled by his great-speaking voice. The largest movie was the classic, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird.’ For the performance he received Best Actor Award in the 1962 Academy Awards.

Audrey Hepburn

• Audrey Hepburn’s career landed her into her first large movie called, ‘Roman Holiday’ with Gregory Peck. Her other roles in movies included ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and a huge hit, ‘My Fair Lady.’

John Wayne

• John Wayne was an extremely big star, but he mainly was known for his leading roles in western movies. Such as ‘True Grit’ in which he received Best Actor Award at the 1969 Academy Awards. He starred in other movies like, ‘The Longest Day’ and ‘The Quiet Man.’

Natalie Wood • Natalie Wood’s

star performance was in the great hit musical, that will forever remain a classic ‘West Side Story’ in which she played and won an Academy Award for her character Maria. Her other film that she starred in was ‘The Great Race.’

Sidney Poitier

• Sidney Poitier opened the door for African Americans everywhere to act in movies. His first movie was ‘In The Heat of The Night.’ His most famous movie was ‘Lilies of The Field’ in which he was one of the first African Americans to win a Best Actor Award.

Elizabeth Taylor• Elizabeth Taylor’s

movie ‘Butterfield 8’ was widely known and also won her a Best Actress Award at the 1960’s Academy Awards. Her next movie was just as splendid, when she played the great Cleopatra in the movie Cleopatra. Elizabeth’s last movie, ‘Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf’ earned her another Best Actress Award.

Paul Newman

• Paul Newman started off with a huge hit called ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ in which he starred in with Elizabeth Taylor. He then moved on to act out a character in the film ‘HUD.’ Finally in 1969 he finished his movie ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.’

In the 1930’s the greatest feat of technology was having movies with color and sound. Also another good portion of the movies during the 1960s were romance. This was probably because there was a lot of hippies who strongly treasured love.
