Some of oursuccess stories

‘Working with Morrisons was fantastic! It was an excellentopportunity to experience practical pharmacy in a high-pacedworking environment. The summer placement programme wasstructured and provided great insight into all areas of pharmacy. My programme tutor provided a daily outline of tasks to becompleted, key learning objectives and provided extendedreading material. I learnt so much on the placement anddeveloped a better understanding of a pharmacist’s role and the importance of following systems.’

Jermaine OmokohCompleted vacational placement 2011-12 and starts as a Pre-registration Trainee in 2012

‘Since starting a summer placement in Kilmarnock in 2009, Iknew that Morrisons was a company I really wanted to work forand I managed to secure a much sought after pre-registrationplacement. Going to Bradford to meet the Central PharmacyTeam was a great experience and I felt that if I had any problemsI would easily be able to approach them for support. As my training progressed I was able to complete the tasks setby the Central Pharmacy Team, such as carrying out auditswithin the pharmacy and presenting to the other students. These were very useful to me as it improved my confidence andhelped me gather evidence for my competencies. Having successfully completed my training I was very fortunatein gaining a position as a relief pharmacist. It has been greatworking in different stores and getting to know all the pharmacystaff. Every day is diverse and I am always learning. Since qualifying I have been trained to administer Flu Vaccines andI have had the opportunity to vaccinate many of the staff andcustomers. My next challenge is to complete the training to carryout the Travel Health Service. I have enjoyed every task I havebeen given so far and I really can’t wait to see what is next for me!’

‘I'm homegrown! I started working at Morrisons 13 years ago asa Pre-Registration Pharmacist and I've spent my whole careerhere. I've never wanted to go elsewhere, because I enjoy thepeople and culture so much. Everyone is really close, it's likewe're one big family. My days are full of variety. I spend a lot of time visiting stores, where I support teams, review workingpractices and generally keep things running smoothly. However, I also work on new store openings and I'm heavilyinvolved with recruitment. Sometimes I miss the patientinteraction that I had as a Pharmacist, but I still get plenty ofsatisfaction from bringing the best out of our teams and findingthe right people to join us. The training and developmentopportunities Morrisons offers are the best in the industry. I mean, I never dreamed I'd get so far in 13 years! So if you'rethinking about joining us, I'd definitely recommend it.’

Simon Lam, Pharmacy Area Manager

The first part of the programme will introduce theprofessional services, help you to gain customer service skills, dispensing skills and counter prescribing skills. The second partof the programme will help you to engage with skills gained inprevious placements. Post qualification, our ManagementDevelopment Programme will help you to flourish and learn themanagement skills required to help you to progress your career.’
