This a touching Parisian romance with a tragic end. When Anne-Claire meets a poor, young artist, she thinks she is only interesting to him if she pretends to come from a rich home. With lies she maintains her camouflage. When the artist, however, finds out the truth, he is so angry about her lies that he strikes her and disappears in the next taxi. She tries to run after him, but runs into a car, is badly injured, and taken to hospital. There the two talk to each other. They want to marry, but when he wants to visit her again, it is already too late. Anne-Claire has not got over the after-effects of the accident.

Since the race-car driver Henri Vidal is in danger of marrying the wrong girl, his guardian angel is allowed to descend on earth in the form of a stewardess in order to lead the young man on the right path. Shesucceeds, but not quite according to the plans, since Vidal starts to fascinate the pretty heavenly girl. She almost throws herself into his arms - but then a stern high-ranking angel turns up and admonishes her to follow the 'regulations.' The lovesick angel returns to heaven, and a true stewardess wins the heart of the disappointed Vidal, who, in themeantime, has won the grand prix of nice.

Deeper and deeper fanny entangles herself in a web of lies until the Austrian secret service thinks she is a French agent. To get herself out of this predicament, she comes up with the story that napoleon is landing in France. She is actually raised to be a countess when her information proves to be true. Enraptured, Martin marries his Fanny.

The occasion is Oberholzer's fiftieth birthday. He is a highly-respected owner of a factory which produces figurines for the garden, little dwarves and such. Suddenly there is a surprise. His younger brother, who had run away some 20 years previously, arrives in his native town accompanied by his famous travelling circus ‘Obolski.' Both he and his charming, exotic wife cause confusion in the minds of all of his conventional relatives and trouble in a number of their marriages. But soon they themselves have to deal with the same type of problem, as a young niece has started showing an effusive interest in the circus and her uncle. In the end, everything returns to normal. After a magnificent final performance, the circus departs from the little town.

When the hotel owner falls seriously ill, Karl takes charge of the hotel and - following the owner's death looks after her daughter. Karl tries to stop him but fails, and he is reduced to toilet attendant - until a rich man and regular patron appears on the scene, buys the hotel and appoints Karl as director.

In order to maker her fortune the young Stanzi moves in with her aunt in Vienna. She falls in love with Jurek, a musician in the Deutschmeisterregiment, who is also a composer. In order to help him she secretly sends a sheet of music, a marching song written by him, to the emperor, and after surmounting some difficulties she obtains an audience with emperor Franz Joseph. He finally permits the Deutschmeister march to be performed at a parade and Stanzi to introduce her talented composer to the emperor, who then gives his congratulations to the two lovers.

The second part of ‘Sissi’, the celebrated film series of the 1950s, shows, more or less, authentic episodes of the young empress Elizabeth of Austria's first years. Above all, it is her conflicts with the strict court ceremonial and her intolerant imperial mother-in-law, which trouble the young woman, who is used to having her own way. The birth of a little princess and the claim to pass on her child's education into strange hands force her to overcome her first marriage crisis. It is not before both parties give way, when Sissi obeys the ceremonial and is al- lowed to keep her child, that a reconciliation and a happy ending are achieved.

While emperor Franz Josef is in Vienna, Sissi travels to Hungary with a count, who is devoted to her. She wants to mollify the Hungarian noblemen who tend toward rebellion. Though she can dispel rumors originating from Vienna about a secret affair with the count, a serious lung disease, however, forces her to get treatment on the island of Corfu. Franz Josef and Sissi meet in the provinces of Italy, and due to Sissi's overwhelming charm, they manage to gain the favour of the Italian population.

Willy Forster is an out-of-work singer. His wife, Therese, has to work as a seamstress in order to keep the family going. This situation and a flirtation Willy has with a young woman leads to the young couple's separation. Fifteen years later Willy, now a famous singer, tries to regain his place in Therese's affections, particularly because he discovers that her fourteen year old daughter is his child and is enthusiastic about music. In the end Therese and her daughter settle on a man who has proven himself to be a good friend over the years, whereas Willy realizes how much he has come to rely on his manager, a woman.
