Jesus continues with parables about the kingdom of heaven in the Gospel today. A king invites many people to a wedding feast in honor of his son. For various reasons, many ignored the invitation. Some were busy with the tasks of the day, some refused to come, and some went so far as to kill the servants who brought the invita-tion. In a great twist, the king instructs his servants to go out into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find. This provides a wonderful image for the Church. God, our King, invites everyone to share in the banquet. We are to celebrate the gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. But the end of the parable also reminds us that while invited, we still have to be prepared for the banquet. Our lives should be a constant reflection of the invitation God extends to us to share in fullness of life with Him. Why would we ever refuse an invitation like that? What are some ways we need to prepare our lives more fully for the feast God has prepared for us? Thank you to everyone who attended the Town Hall meetings last week to learn about our facilities and some of the challenges we face as we look to the future. Under the direction of our Pastoral Council and Parish Staff, we will continue to move forward as we look at ways to address Phase II of our Master Plan and meet the needs of our faith community. There will be other oppor-tunities in the coming months to give input for this process. We hope you will participate. There are several events happening this weekend and next week in our parish. Please pray for the women attending the Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) retreat this weekend. We are grateful for those who have chosen to make this investment in their faith. This Tuesday evening is the Fall Women’s evening retreat. They will be building community and hearing a great presentation from one of our parishioners, Robin Todd. This Thursday, October 19, is the next session in our Catechism Crash Course. The topic this week is Sin & Grace. This is a great way to learn more about your faith. And this Friday, October 20, is the annual Trunk or Treat hosted by the 8th grade class from our school. This is a fun, community event that all are welcome to attend. Please note that this is a fundraiser for our 8th graders so there is a charge to participate. All the details are in the bulletin. This Tuesday I will be departing with 7 parishioners from Presentation for a 6 day trip to visit our sister community in San Rafael Cedros, El Salvador. We will be spending a couple of days in the capital of San Salvador and then spending several days with host families. Please keep our group and our sister community in your prayers. Many Blessings!
To add or remove a name from the bulletin prayer list, contact the Pastoral
Care Office, 251-1102. To request daily prayer, call Darlene, Prayer
Chain Coordinator, 994-0256.

Share A Gift Of Your Time In Prayer
Each of us have the same number of hours in the day. Often times we run from one commitment to another without really stopping to reflect on our relationship with God.
Perhaps you are being called to prayerfully consider a commitment to one hour of Eucharistic Adoration each week. Many people say, “But I wouldn’t know what to do for an entire hour.” The answer is simple, offer your prayers and petitions to God, pray the rosary, read scripture or your favorite spiritual book or simply sit in silence. You will be surprised at
how quickly the time passes! There is no right or wrong way to spend time in front of the Eucharist. The most important thing is that you have taken an hour of your time and offered
it as a gift to God.

¡Muchas Bendiciones!

Meet Jacquelinne You may remember Jacquelinne from her visit to Presentation in 2013. She is 23 years old and currently in her fifth year at the University of El Salvador working on a degree in Social Work. In El Salvador, the typical college degree takes six years, although a degree in education is only four years. Jaquelinne shares a “testimony”: “Despite all the difficulties my family has lived with, we have been able to overcome and always continue together. Anytime we can, we spend time together giving thanks to God for the beautiful things he gives us and for the support we have had as a family. I enjoy sharing my time with my family, and my little cousins, anytime I can, we play together and if they are in need, I help them as much as I can.”
“Something that I also want to share is that every time the sun comes up, I thank God for my life, because at some point, I feel like I and other friends are not going to continue in this world. On January 13, 2017, we had a gathering with the scholarship student group and a missionary who is supporting the youth. We went to a tourist place where we enjoyed the day. When we were going back to our homes, a man with a machete approached the whole group. The missionary stood up in front of the man, and he told us to run away. While the others were look-ing for help, I was paralyzed, I couldn’t move. I just remember the man wanted to rob our stuff, and he threated the missionary with the machete. The missionary got a wound on his hand and gave all his money to the thief. In that very moment, I had many thoughts, and it made me remember all the suffering my brother went through when he was murdered. For some reason, God didn’t allow anything bad to happen to us. That is why I am very thankful to God, and I thank him every day, because we never know when we will die.” When asked what she thinks about the Scholarship and Formation Programs, Jacquelinne shared, “it is a nice program which helps many youth to continue with their studies and learn through different workshops that are given. It is an extensive program that is working with women and small businesses, so that they can achieve. I thank God for allowing me to be part of the program, because it has helped me since the day I started. Now I think differently and have a different view of the things that are happening around me. I am very thankful for the Church of Our Lady of the Presentation and for the support that they are giving to the youth of San Rafael Cedros.
