Content Providing for Navigation Software

The Langenscheidt Publishing Group with its brands Langenscheidt, Berlitz,

Polyglott and Insight Guides maintains one of the world‘s largest multilingual

geo-referenced travel databases which is particularly suitable for integration into

navigation software, as all addresses are geo-referenced. The content is arranged

on a modular basis – categories such as sights, restaurants, hotels, shopping,

entertainment, nightlife, and many others, can be selected, arranged and exported

according to our customers‘ needs. The content is delivered in xml format and can

be issued under Polyglott, Berlitz or Insight Guides brand names or white labelled.

Online services can easily access our database through an API.

Dictionary and phrasebook data (see pages 7 and 12) can provide an excellent

added value for your navigation software and will help your customers communicate

effectively when travelling in a foreign country. This content is also available in xml

format and can be licenced as Langenscheidt, Berlitz or as a white label.

Nokia Maps

Nearly 100 Berlitz- and Polyglott-branded travel guides and phrase books

are available for purchase in Nokia Maps. Each destination features

sightseeing, dining, lodging, shopping and entertainment tips in a selection

of 6 languages. Once downloaded, the travel content can be read and the

location spotted in Nokia Maps.

Medion

Langenscheidt Publishing provides Polyglott- and Berlitz-branded travel

content pre-installed on the Medion GoPAL series, a compact and powerful

portable navigation device. The partnership has successfully licenced and

produced travel guides to 90 destinations in 10 languages, plus companion

phrase books in those languages.

Handhelds

Langenscheidt, Berlitz and Mondadori Langenscheidt dictionaries can also

be integrated into handhelds. Handy mini-computers with content from the

Langenscheidt Publishing Group are manufactured and distributed by Sharp,

Franklin und Seiko. These handhelds are designed to carry a huge database of

words and dictionaries. Users can access them wherever they are: at home, in

the city or while travelling. These mobile mini-computers are equally useful for

casual and serious students, professionals or anyone interested in maintaining

or refreshing their language skills (including vocabulary and grammar).

Thanks to applications like quick-search, individual word lists, and language

games the handhelds make language learning easy and fun – any time,

any place.

In cooperation with our partner Koch Media and leading software developers

we publish dictionaries and vocabulary training games for the Nintendo

DS and Nintendo DS Light – in four different language versions for

the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland –

With around 800 audio books, Der Audio Verlag offers a wide range of forms and

Vox: Reference Publishing in Spanish Language

In 2001 the merger between Biblograf, Vox imprint publisher, and Larousse’s
