Are Mobile Devices Affecting Your Health?
During recent years, there has been growing concern over the use of mobile devices and their effects on
your health. The average American is likely to spend approximately two and a half hours using a mobile
device each day.
Since 91 percent of adults own mobile devices, the health concerns are definitely understandable. With
this increased usage of mobile devices each day, using a mobile device is likely to adversely affect your
health.
The primary concern of mobile device users is they cause cancer. However, there is no conclusive
evidence to support these concerns. Many health professionals have identified three ways in which
mobile devices adversely affect your health.
Mobile Devices Increase Stress Levels
There has never been a time in history that people have been bombarded with so much technology. The
goal of mobile devices is to make lives and communication easier. However, this constant
communication is causing users frequent stress. Mobile devices have been named as contributing
factors.
Mobile devices provide your friends, family, and clients with instant access to you. At any moment,
there is a barrage of beeps, ring tones and vibrations on the device that wear on your nerves. All of this
activity leads to feelings of overwhelm and stress.
Mobile Devices Harbor Bacteria
Most people cannot remember the last time they cleaned their mobile devices. As a result of infrequent
cleaning, mobile devices can carry germs such as the E. Coli bacteria.
A recent study reported that there are over 25,000 strains of bacteria per square inch on mobile devices.
This bacteria can make you sick with colds and infections. In addition, the germs are passed from person
to person creating more incidences of illness.
Mobile Devices Cause Vision Problems
Staring at your mobile device adversely affects your vision later in life. Since most mobile devices have
small screens, people constantly squint and strain their eyes to read the messages. This results in a
condition called digital eye strain.
Mobile Devices Affect Your Hearing
Mobile devices are now used to listen to music. When people wear ear buds, the close proximity of the
ear drum to the music causes users to suffer permanent ear damage.
You can reduce the effects associated with these conditions by cleaning your mobile devices and using
them sparingly. When your health is at stake, it is smart to take precautions.
