MINDFULNESS AND SELF-COMPASSION, THE ART OF BEING KIND TO YOURSELF with Peggy DiVincenzoSaturday, September 26: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m., $60In this half-day experiential, practice-based workshop, you will learn the practice of self-compassion, an evidence-based method of getting through the toughest times of your life. We will cover the difference between empathy and compassion, the value of understanding and practicing compassionate presence, and clarifying why it is more meaningful and enduring than trying to maintain self-esteem. If you find youfrequently criticize or judge yourself or if you are dealing with difficult life situations, come and learn the ways to mindfully break the cycle of feeling bad about yourself while learning to be 100% behind yourself. Basic mindfulness meditation techniques will be covered. This retreat is appropriate for beginnerto advanced level meditators. Peggy DiVincenzo, LPC, LMFT has practiced vipassana, or insight meditation, since 1980, and is a certified meditation teacher through the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. She is professionally trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn, and has studied with meditation teachers from various traditions.
