1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL TOOLS, TRANSPORTATION, MATERIALS, LABOR, INSURANCE AND ALL ELSE NECESSARY FOR OR

INCIDENTAL THERETO TO COMPLETE THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.

2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY MUNICIPAL, COUNTY AND STATE ROAD OPENING PERMITS AS MAY BE REQUIRED. THE

CONTRACTOR SHALL ABIDE BY CONDITIONS AND PROVISIONS OF THOSE PERMITS.

3. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO COORDINATE WITH UTILITIES AND SHALL RESET MANHOLE FRAMES, VALVE BOXES, LIDS, ETC. AS MAY BE

NECESSARY FOR RELOCATING A UTILITY DUE TO CONFLICT OF EXISTING LOCATION WITH THE NEW PROPOSED WORK AND FOLLOW THE UTILITY'S

INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS REGARD. UTILITY CROSSINGS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RESPECTIVE UTILITY COMPANY, AND THE TOWNSHIP

OF EDISON STANDARDS.

4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING SAFE ACCESS TO ALL BUILDINGS PARKING LOTS AND SIDEWALKS AT ALL TIMES.

5. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO INCREASE OR DECREASE QUANTITIES AND TO ADD OR DELETE ITEMS AS REQUIRED.

6. PRIOR TO WORKING IN ANY AREA THAT MAY AFFECT THE SAFE MOVEMENT OF VEHICLE TRAFFIC OR PEDESTRIANS BY HIS CONSTRUCTION

ACTIVITIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE PROPER UTILITY CONSTRUCTION SIGNS IN PLACE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LATEST EDITION M.U.T.C.D.

STANDARDS AND AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER AND APPLICABLE TRAFFIC SAFETY CONTROL OFFICER.

7. ADEQUATE WARNING SIGNS AND BARRICADES SHALL BE PLACED AROUND ALL EXCAVATIONS. FLASHING LIGHTS OR OTHER ILLUMINATION

DEVICES SHALL BE EMPLOYED TO WARN MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS AFTER DARK. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL MEASURES SHALL MEET THE

REQUIREMENTS OF THE N.J.D.O.T. REGULATIONS AND THE "MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES" LATEST EDITION AND "PART VI

STANDARDS FOR STREET AND HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, UTILITY AND INCIDENT MANAGEMENT OPERATING".

8. TWO WEEK PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY SIGNS ADVISING MOTORISTS OF

CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS ON ALL ROADWAYS INCLUDING ON OR ABOUT THE DATE CONSTRUCTION IS TO BEGIN. THE PLACEMENT OF SUCH

SIGNS SHALL BE LOCATED IN A MANNER AS TO ADEQUATELY ADVISE PEDESTRIANS AND MOTORISTS OF UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION.

9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ABIDE BY ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE "HIGH VOLTAGE PROXIMITY ACT". UNDERGROUND OR OVERHEAD UTILITIES

IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO EXCAVATIONS OR TRENCHING WILL REQUIRE PROTECTION TO PREVENT DAMAGE OR INTERRUPTION OF UTILITY

SERVICE. THESE TEMPORARY MEASURES SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE VARIOUS PAY ITEMS OF THE CONTRACT AND NO ADDITIONAL PAYMENT

SHALL BE MADE FOR SUCH WORK.

10.SHOULD UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES OR FACILITIES INTERFERE WITH THE PROJECT CONSTRUCTION, THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED

BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITY COMPANIES THREE (3) DAYS BEFORE

COMMENCEMENT OF EXCAVATION FOR ACCURATE FIELD LOCATIONS.

11.DIRECTLY AFTER PIPE INSTALLATION, ALL TRENCHES SHALL BE BACKFILLED TO GRADE WITHOUT DELAY. IN STREET EXCAVATIONS, THE

CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE HIS EXCAVATION EQUIPMENT AND TRENCH BOX (IF IN USE) AT THE END OF EACH DAY UNLESS OTHERWISE

ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN PLACE OVERNIGHT BY THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION. IN NON-STREET EXCAVATIONS, THE EXCAVATION

EQUIPMENT AND TRENCH BOX MAY REMAIN IN PLACE WITH ADEQUATE PROTECTION. TEMPORARY STEEL PLATING OR BARRICADING OF OPEN

TRENCHES WHEN WORK IS NOT IN PROGRESS SHALL ONLY BE USED WHEN APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER AND AS MAY BE ALLOWED BY

CONDITIONS OF A ROAD OPENING PERMIT. OPEN TRENCHES SHALL NOT BE STEEL PLATED BETWEEN OCTOBER 15 AND APRIL 15.

12.WORK MAY BE PERFORMED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 AM AND 4:30 PM. IF ADDITIONAL WORK HOURS ARE

REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ALL WORK IN THE WORK SPECIFIED, THEY SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACTOR'S BID PRICE APPROVAL OF THE

COLLEGE SHALL BE REQUESTED BY THE CONTRACTOR IN WRITING 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE DESIRED WORK DATE.

13.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BROOM SWEEP THE STREETS FOLLOWING BACKFILLING, AND MAINTAIN A CLEAN SITE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE

ENGINEER, APPLICATION OF WATER IS ALLOWED FOR DUST CONTROL.

14.WHENEVER THE DRAWINGS INDICATE TO MEET EXISTING CONDITIONS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A SMOOTH AND CONTINUOUS

TRANSITION FROM THE PROPOSED TO EXISTING GRADES.

15.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROTECT EXISTING THRUST BLOCKS, WHICH ARE RESTRAINING EXISTING UTILITIES. EXISTING

THRUST BLOCKS SHALL NOT BE UNDERMINED OR DISTURBED.

16.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL OF THE COLLEGE'S SAFETY AND WORK RULES WHEN PERFORMING WORK AT THE COLLEGE. ALL

CONTRACTOR EMPLOYEES, SUBCONTRACTORS, ETC., SHALL SIGN-IN DAILY AT THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT BUILDING UPON ARRIVAL ON

CAMPUS TO BE ISSUED A CONTRACTORS IDENTIFICATION BADGE. IT IS EXPECTED THAT ALL CONTRACTOR EMPLOYEES WILL CONDUCT

THEMSELVES IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

17.PRIOR TO PERFORMING ANY EXCAVATION WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL FOR A UTILITY MARK OUT AND NOTIFY THE COLLEGE. PUBLIC

UTILITIES WILL BE MARKED OUT BY THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY AND MCC PERSONNEL WILL MARK OUT THE COLLEGE UTILITIES.

18.THE COLLEGE CAMPUS IN EDISON, NEW JERSEY IS LOCATED ON A SECTION OF THE FORMER RARITAN ARSENAL (FRA) WHICH OPERATED FROM

1918 THROUGH 1963. THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS (ACE) HAS COMPLETED INVESTIGATIONS AND REMEDIATION ACTIVITIES RELATED TO

UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE (UXO) MATERIALS ON THE CAMPUS. WHILE THERE ARE NO KNOWN UXO'S AT THIS TIME, THERE REMAINS A POSSIBILITY

THAT THEY CAN BE DISCOVERED WHEN EXCAVATING ON CAMPUS. THE ACE HAS PROVIDED AN INFORMATION SAFETY SHEET WHICH ADVISES

ANYONE EXCAVATING ON THE FRA TO PRACTICE THE "3R'S". THEY ARE RECOGNIZE, RETREAT AND REPORT. IF ANY MATERIAL IS DISCOVERED

THAT APPEARS TO BE ORDNANCE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY STOP WORK, LEAVE THE AREA, CALL 911, AND NOTIFY THE COLLEGE.

A PROCEDURE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL TO SAFELY ADDRESS SUCH A SITUATION.

19.MIDDLESEX COUNTY COLLEGE IS A SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS. SMOKING IS ONLY PERMITTED INSIDE A PERSON'S PERSONAL VEHICLE. SMOKING IS

NOT PERMITTED ANYWHERE ELSE ON CAMPUS OR IN ANY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT. THE COLLEGE POLICE WILL ISSUE SUMMONSES WITH

FINES TO ANYONE FOUND IN VIOLATION OF THIS POLICY.

ENVIRONMENTAL NOTES:

1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE

PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS OF THE NEW JERSEY STANDARDS FOR SOIL EROSION AND

SEDIMENT CONTROL.

2. THE TRENCH EXCAVATION SHALL BE NO WIDER THAN NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH OSHA

SAFETY STANDARDS AND THE CONSTRUCTION DETAILS UNDER THE ACTUAL SURFACE AND

SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS AS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION.

3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AVOID DISTURBANCE OF NATURAL VEGETATION IN HIS CLEARING

OPERATIONS TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PRACTICABLE.

4. "SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL" SHALL BE PERFORMED AS DIRECTED BY THE

ENGINEER. THIS WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS AS MAY BE

WARRANTED BY ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS AND THE CONTRACTOR'S MEANS AND METHODS

OF CONSTRUCTION. NO SEPARATE PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ADJUSTMENTS,

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS WORK.

5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN HIS WORK WITHIN THE DESIGNATED LIMITS OF

DISTURBANCE AS DELINEATED AND NOTED ON THE PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE

RESPONSIBLE TO RESTORE ANY DISTURBANCE BY WORK CONDUCTED OUTSIDE THOSE

LIMITS AT HIS OWN EXPENSE.

6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISPOSAL OF ALL WASTE, DEBRIS AND

UNSUITABLE EXCAVATED MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS, THE

STATE AND LOCAL RULES AND REGULATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL

RECYCLING RECORDS TO MIDDLESEX COUNTY COLLEGE.
