In 2008 The University established a fourth Campus – The Open Campus – to better manage and expand multi‐mode delivery of its programmes. CAMPUS OFFICE OF PLANNING AND INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCHThe Campus Office of Planning and Institutional Research (COPIR) is a unit of the Office of the Campus Principal, serving Campus senior and extended management as well as the broader University community. Its continuing mission is to provide evidenced based information to support the Campus in advancing its strategic goals and enhancing its administrative decision-making ability, by providing a platform of comprehensive information and empirical data to inform campus planning, policy formulation and decision making.

The COPIR also supports both the University Strategic and Campus Operational Planning processes and is directly responsible for monitoring the progress of its performance. The COPIR works in collaboration with Faculty and Administrative units in monitoring institutional performance. Our staff perform a number of functions including statistical analysis, survey design, data management and preparation of reports on the analysis of data, highlighting particulars observations and trends. We also respond to requests for information from a variety of internal and external constituents.

Duties of the Planning Officer / Institutional Research Analyst Strategic Planning Participating and contributing to the strategic planning

efforts at the University level Supporting the University’s planning framework with

particular reference to the strengthening of the Campus’ operational planning processes and practices. The successful candidate will undertake to assist in the process of monitoring and evaluating the Campus Operational Plan towards the implementation of the University Strategic Plan

Supporting the identification ,establishment and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) at a Campus level to facilitate the strategic planning exercise and enable institutional benchmarking

Institutional Research Supporting the development of the management

information database facilitated by the Campus Business intelligent system, to enhance evidenced-

based decision –making on the campus. The candidate will identify, collect, and analyze data for input into reports on information that supports the planning function in respect of enrolment management and human resource planning; enrolment projections academic progression and performance; data to support measures of efficiency, etc.

Undertaking exercises that support environmental scanning, forecasting the development of benchmark data and the identification of trends in higher education institutional research

Constructing the design, executing and preparing analyses of projects/studies/surveys which are directed at strengthening the information base and the determination of efficiencies and effectiveness in university processes

Leading exercises in data collection in respect of academic and administrative activities for analysis to produce reports which are required for obligations of internal and external reporting

Collaborating with a cross section of internal stakeholders with a view to obtaining accurate and reliable data

Responding to ad-hoc requests for institutional data on a timely basis

Ensuring data quality and accuracy of data created, disseminated and reported on behalf of the UWI St. Augustine

Performing other such duties as may be assigned by the Senior Planning Officer

Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in a field that encompasses significant work in research methods, statistical methods, business statistics etc. and preferably in one of the following Social Sciences disciplines: Economics Business Statistics

Experience in planning, research and analytical work in corporate, public administration or academic settings will be an asset.

Personal AttributesThe Office places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Have demonstrated experience using quantitative and qualitative research methods

accomplish tasks in a timely and efficient manner, with a capacity for problem solving

Be able to act as the project lead in surveys and other exercises

Be dedicated to personal professional development Be able to relate to a range of publics including

Campus Management, Senior Administrative and Academic Staff as well as external stakeholders, including other tertiary level institutions, government agencies, statistical, accrediting and non-governmental organisations

Appreciate the regional character of the University and its regional responsibilities

REMUNERATION PACKAGE

Lecturer level: Minimum TT$239,544Maximum TT$333,456

BENEFITS: Special allowance of 6% of basic salary; Transportation Allowance of TT$3,250 per month; Unfurnished accommodation at 10% or furnished at

12½% of basic salary, or housing allowance of 20% of basic salary to staff making own housing arrangements;

UWI contribution of equivalent of 10% of basic salary to Superannuation Scheme;

Annual Study and Travel Grant (available after first year of service); -TT$20,717.00 per annum

Institutional Visit Allowance – TT$ 7,200.00 per annum Book Grant – TT$6,000 per annum Contributory Health Insurance - 50% UWI Group Life Insurance
