a. Mexico sits where three of the earth’s plates meet so there are a lot of volcanoes

b. It has two peninsulas one is Baja California the other is the Yucatan

c. The Pacific Ocean is the west and Gulf of Mexico is to the east.

a. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the center of Mexico. Land north has warm summers and cool winters. Land south is warm year-round

c. Tierra caliente or hot lands on the coast are hot year-round.

a. The North

i. Farmers build canals to grow food in this desert region

ii. Vaqueros or cowboys herd, rope and brand cattle

iii. Monterrey is the main producer of steel and cement

iv. Maquiladoras have been built in Tijuana & Juarez to manufacture goods

i. Farming & ranching are the major ways to make money due to the good soil from volcanic eruptions & the mild temperatures.

ii. Most of people in Mexico live in this region. Mexico City & Guadalajara are booming Mexican cities.

i. This is the poorest region.

ii. Subsistence farming so people can eat in the mountain regions

iii.Plantations of bananas and sugarcane for export on the coastal plains

iv. The coastal plains also have beautiful beaches for tourism
