    FCV Series Design

    Design Overview

    Design Principle

    Valve Features

FCV Series valves are designed for a variety of oil, gas, and water services. Valvesare available in two body styles depending on application: Angle Body Through Body (Inline)

The through-body design is used primarily to control gas flow into a gas liftinstallation; while the angle body can also be used for fluid flow control. An indicatring and handle arrangement allows the valve to be set to a known flow area.

The primary components of an FCV valve are the body, packing gland adapter, valvestem, and seat. A handle is attached to the valve stem and an indicator ring is attacheto the packing gland adapter.

Counter clockwise rotation of the handle opens the valve. A notch on the handle

shows the valves position on the indicator ring. The flow area is represented by anorifice diameters in 1/64 in increments on the indicator ring.

Once the valve stem is in the desired position, it can be manually locked in place. This is accomplished by screwing the set screw on top of the handle down.

The valve design directs flow away from the valve and toward the seat. The valve isdesigned to be readily repairable in the field. Removal of the packing gland adapterallows all internal components to be removed and replaced.(See maintenance section

The body comes in a variety of end connections, including threaded, buttweld, sockeweld, and flanged. The end connections range from 1 to 3 inches.

The valve trim comes in a variety of materials and sizes (1/8, 3/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 1inch). The handle is available in either aluminum or stainless steel.

The Teflon packing is spring energized to enhance low pressure sealing integrity. Th

packing gland spacer holds the seat in place and provides space for the packing sprin

The 1 in body is available in ASTM 216 WCB material. The 2 in Through-body isoffered in ASTM 216 WCB, while the 2 in Angle-body is offered in ASTM 350 Lf2,forged alloy. The 2 in and 3 in are available in 316L casting.

Handle has a notch for setting and reading the adjustment of the valve. By placingnotch at -0- the valve will be in a closed position (Figure 1). Directly above andbelow notch are located the indicator and handle set screws (Detail 1).

    1. Open valve by rotating handle two full turns in a counter-clockwise rotation.

    2. Bleed pressure from valve by loosening NPT plug located on valve body.

Caution:Escaping gas under pressure. Wear ear and eye protection.

    3. Remove locking set screw from handle and loosen the remaining set screwith 3/16 allen wrench.

    4. The primary set screw should be loosened three full turns to clear stem.Handle is now free to be removed. Once handle is removed, the flow indicring is easily able to be removed. (Figure 8)

    5. Use adjustment spanner wrench P/N 102200 to loosen and remove thepacking gland adapter.(Detail 2/Figure 2)

    6. Once packing gland adapter is removed, the seat is accessible and can nobe removed.

    7. Inspect seat sealing surface area and set o-ring for any surface damage. Irecommended to replace seat and/or o-ring upon any damage finding.(Figu

    Removing Packing Set

    1. Unscrew the stem and remove from the packing gland adapter. The packinggland spacer, spring, and washers will now be free for removal.

    2. Push the packing out of the packing gland adapter with a flat headscrewdriver. Remove one or two packing ring seals at time until all areremoved.

Caution: Use care not to scratch the packing bore surface.

Note: Use P/N 102100 tool to install packing set. Tool is customized forprecise fit with packing.

    1. Inspect packing gland adapter bore surface for any scratches or pitting. If any surffinish damage is found, replacing packing gland adapter is recommended.

    2. Grease packing gland adapter bore with Lubriplate multi-purpose grease P/N 1020Provided with repair kit.

    3. Put Lubriplate grease between each packing ring seal. Place packing gland adapterupside down, insert packing washer with beveled edge down.

    4. Using P/N 102100 tool insert each packing ring seal one at a time. The Lubriplate the packing ring seal will aid in attaching to tool. (See figure 5)

Note: The first packing ring seal pushed into the packing gland adaptermust have a flat bottom. (See figure 6)

    5. Once all packing ring seals are in place, fit spring washer with spring on top. Placepacking gland spacer on next. Spring should easily fit on spacer. (See figure 7)

    6. Grease stem sealing surface with Lubriplate P/N 102000. This will facilitate matinwith packing gland spacer, spring, washers and packing gland adapter assembly.Push stem through assembly keeping stem tip face-up.

    7. Take care not to damage stem sealing surface. Turn stem into assembly using handMild tapping with mallet might be needed for proper engagement. Continue untistem sits properly on packing gland spacer and packing gland adapter have coupproperly. The stem will now be at the full open position.

    8. If seat is being replaced, coat seat o-ring with Lubriplate grease P/N 102000. Instaseat into body with the o-ring side down.

    9. Grease packing gland adapters thread. Using P/N 102200 spanner wrench tightenpacking gland adapter onto valve body.

Note: Packing gland adapter OD o-ring should not be visible at properthread engagement. Do not over tighten packing gland adapter.
