EXPRESS DRILLING 961S: Agil, slim and jet more noble: Following

the presentation of the light and slim “Blitzlock”-drilling family in the

Meisterstück category last year, the Suhler factory now presents the

luxury version of this drilling. Absolutely new are the intrinsic values:

after opening the finely engraved side-plates with the concealed

lever you see what is behind the facade – real side-locks. These fine

mechanical parts get their power from V-springs. The steel surface

is finished with that what the Suhler gunsmiths call a typical „Zella

Mehlis finish“, a special polish. The weight of the new Merkel sidelock

express drilling is app. 3,4 kg. Rifle calibers are 8x57IRS and 9,3x74R.

The shotgun barrel has 12/76 with a ½ choke (steel shot proofed).

FREISCHWINGEND MIT LAUFJUSTAGEFREE FLOATING BARRELS WITH ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM

B3/B4 MIT FREISCHWINGER: Die neuen Laufgruppen der B3/B4-Reihe aus der MEM-Katego-

rie von Merkel kombiniert eine ganze Reihe technischer Leckerbissen: Der untere Lauf der Bock-

büchse schwingt jetzt frei, das erhöht die Warmschusspräzision. Zudem verfügt dieser Lauf über

eine Justiermöglichkeit der Einzelläufe zueinander in Seite und Höhe, ein mechanisches System,

das im Alltag durch den Vorderschaft geschützt wird. Bei Munitionswechseln (Laborierung oder

Geschoss) sind deshalb keine Lötarbeiten mehr erforderlich. Dieses System wurde von Merkel

auf die komplette B-Klasse übertragen und funktioniert bei Bockdoppelbüchse, Bockbüchs-

flinte und Bergstutzen identisch. Beeindruckend ist das geringe Gewicht dieser komfortablen

Gesamtlösung: Die neue B3 Bockdoppelbüchse zum Beispiel wiegt nur 3,2 Kilogramm – ein

extrem guter Wert.

B3/B4 WITH FREE FLOATING BARRELS: The new barrel groups in the B3/B4 MEM models

from Merkel combine a number of new technical highlights. The lower barrel in the o/u rifle is

free floating which increases the precision, when shooting several times. This barrel also has

an adjustment system to zero the two barrels in windage and elevation, a mechanical system

which is located under (and protected by) the forend. This means that – when the ammunition

is changed (load or bullets) – there is no need for any soldering work. This system has been in-

corporated by Merkel on the complete B-class and works identically on the over and under rifle,

the over and under combination gun and the Bergstutzen. The light weight of this complete

solution is impressive: For example the new B3 over and under rifle weights only 3,2 kilos – an

extremely good weight for a gun with a free floating barrel.

BOCKDOPPELBÜCHSE 2021AE /2022AE SAFARI: Dieses Bockgewehr hat etwas Spleeniges und wurde von Merkel in Erinnerung an ein Gewehr aufgelegt, das der Maharadscha von Bijawar

in den 30er-Jahren bei Merkel orderte: Die Anson & Deeley-Bockdoppelbüchse 2021AE /2022AE in der Großwildversion. Basis sind die leistungsstarken Kaliber .375 H&H und .470 Nitro Ex-

press. Beim Holz setzt Merkel auf die typische Safari-Schäftung: einen Pistolengriffschaft, deutsche Backe und geraden Rücken, sowie eine dämpfende Gummischaftkappe. Zum Einsatz kommt

auch das tarierte Träge-Massen-System mit Gewicht im Hinterschaft, das aus den Safari-Doppelbüchsen der Marke bekannt ist. Die Waffe verfügt über abschaltbare Ejektoren und bringt es bei

einer Lauflänge von 600 mm auf ein Gewicht von circa 4,8 Kilogramm. Das Gewehr ist als 2021AE (mit kurzem Systemkasten) in Holzklassen ab 4 und als 2022AE (mit langen Seitenplatten) in

Holzklassen ab 5 erhältlich.

OvER AND UNDER RIFLE 2021AE /2022AE SAFARI: This over and under is somewhat unusual and was created by Merkel to resemble a gun which was ordered in the 1930s by the Mahara-

ja of Bijawar: The Anson & Deeley 2021AE /2022AE over-and-under rifle in the Big-Game version, in the calibers .375 H&H und .470 Nitro Express. For the wood, Merkel has used the typical

Safari stock: Pistol grip, German cheek piece and straight back with rubber recoil pad. The weight system is the same as in the Merkel Safari rifles, with an extra weight in the stock. The gun has

ejectors which can be disconnected and has a barrel length of 600 mm and a weight of app. 4,8 kg. The gun is available as 2021AE (with short receiver) with wood quality starting from category

4 upwards and as 2022AE (with long side-plates) with basic wood category from 5.

Safari. Was macht ein Gewehr der Königsdisziplin aus? Hohe Zuverlässigkeit auch bei starkem

Kaliber, ein Afrikavisier mit Klappen und ein sattes Gewicht, das den Rückstoß dämpft und den

Anschlag stabilisiert. Gezielt wird über eine typische Afrikavisierung mit einem Expressvisier mit

drei Klappen. Geschossen wird mit der Patrone .375 Ruger, die speziell für Kurzsysteme entwi-

ckelt wurde und leistungsmäßig auf Höhe der .375 H&H liegt.

What makes a gun special for the kings discipline? High levels of reliability even with a big

caliber, an Africa sight with foalding leaf and a weight that offsets the recoil and a good fit at

the shoulder. Targeting takes place via a typical safari express sight with an express sight with

three leafs. The gun uses a .375 Ruger round, which was specially developed for short system

and performs as well as a .375 H&H.

The barrel has a large diameter (22mm) which gives weight and precision, also on distance

shots. Action and floor plate are made of steel and have the finest case colour hardening.

Together with the balancing weight which is in the stock the steel action with its finely adjus-

ted dimensions provides for a good balance and and cushioned recoil. A good shoulder fit is

guaranteed by the stock (from wood classification 5 upwards). The stock has a straight back, a

pistol grip, a Monte Carlo cheek piece and a red Pachmayr recoil pad. Finally the KR1 in the Sa-

fari version weights app. 4,5 kg and is available with a barrel length of 565 mm. It is fitted with

strengthened magnum swivels, which are comfortable to use.

Jagdgewehrmanufaktur ist für die Nische prädestiniert. In der breiten Palette der Varianten des

Kurzrepetierers KR1 von Merkel fehlte bislang eine Variante für die Nachsuche: Diese Lücke

ist mit der KR1 Tracking geschlossen. Gerade in diesem speziellen Feld der Jagd spielt der

Kurzrepetierer seine Stärken aus: Mit nur 450 Millimeter ist der Lauf nochmals 65 Millimeter

kürzer als die kürzeste Standardausführung. Die Kompaktheit zahlt sich in punkto Gewicht und

Handlichkeit aus: nur rund 2,8 Kilogramm bringt die Tracking auf die Waage und damit nicht

viel mehr als eine leichte Flinte. Der robuste Schichtholzschaft mit geradem Rücken hat einen

Pistolengriffschaft ohne Schaftbacke. Hinzu kommt eine Gummischaftkappe. Die standardmäßi-

ge Drückjagdvisierung und variable Riemenbügel machen aus der Waffe ein funktionelles Spezi-

alwerkzeug. Dickichterprobt ist auch die Sperre für den Magazindeckel – versehentliches Öffnen

bei der Nachsuche ist nicht möglich. Verschlussträger und Abzugsblech sind obendrein schwarz

hartanodisiert – die harte und kratzfeste Oberfläche zeigt sich unbeeindruckt von Gestrüpp.

Und auch die Sicherheit in dieser doch speziellen jagdlichen Situation kommt nicht zu kurz: Eine

zusätzliche Raste am Sicherungsschieber und der Verzicht auf einen Stecher machen die KR1 zu

einem berechenbaren Nachsuchgewehr. Angeboten wird der 915 mm lange Repetierer in den

Kalibern 8x57IS, 9,3x62 und .308.

SHORT BOLT ACTION RIFLE KR1 TRACKING: Short, shorter, tracking: the new short bolt-ac-

tion rifle from the Suhl gun manufacturer is predestined for this niche. Within the wide range of

variants of the KR1 short bolt action rifle a tracking variant was missing: This hole has now been

filled with the KR1 Tracking. It flexes its muscles in the specialist field of hunting: with a 450 mm

barrel, it is 65 mm shorter than the shortest standard version. This compact build brings ad-

vantages in the weight: it only weights about 2,8 kg, not much more than a light shotgun. The

robust stock made out of laminated wood has a pistolgrip with a straight back and a rubber

recoil pad. The standard driven hunt sight and the detachable swing swivels make the gun to a

functional tool. When crawling through under-wood the lock for the magazine is also safe under

these circumstances, it cannot be accidently opened whilst tracking. The breach and trigger are

anodised in black – the hard and scratch-resistant surface will not be affected by brush-wood.

The safety is also not compromised in this special hunting situation: An extra notch on the

safety slide and the absence of a set trigger, make the KR1 a reliable tracking gun. The 915 mm

bei der Nachsuche ist nicht möglich. Verschlussträger und Abzugsblech sind obendrein schwarz

hartanodisiert – die harte und kratzfeste Oberfläche zeigt sich unbeeindruckt von Gestrüpp.

Und auch die Sicherheit in dieser doch speziellen jagdlichen Situation kommt nicht zu kurz: Eine

zusätzliche Raste am Sicherungsschieber und der Verzicht auf einen Stecher machen die KR1 zu

einem berechenbaren Nachsuchgewehr. Angeboten wird der 915 mm lange Repetierer in den

Kalibern 8x57IS, 9,3x62 und .308.

SHORT BOLT ACTION RIFLE KR1 TRACKING: Short, shorter, tracking: the new short bolt-ac-

tion rifle from the Suhl gun manufacturer is predestined for this niche. Within the wide range of

variants of the KR1 short bolt action rifle a tracking variant was missing: This hole has now been

filled with the KR1 Tracking. It flexes its muscles in the specialist field of hunting: with a 450 mm

barrel, it is 65 mm shorter than the shortest standard version. This compact build brings ad-

vantages in the weight: it only weights about 2,8 kg, not much more than a light shotgun. The

robust stock made out of laminated wood has a pistolgrip with a straight back and a rubber

recoil pad. The standard driven hunt sight and the detachable swing swivels make the gun to a

functional tool. When crawling through under-wood the lock for the magazine is also safe under

these circumstances, it cannot be accidently opened whilst tracking. The breach and trigger are

anodised in black – the hard and scratch-resistant surface will not be affected by brush-wood.

The safety is also not compromised in this special hunting situation: An extra notch on the

safety slide and the absence of a set trigger, make the KR1 a reliable tracking gun. The 915 mm

long bolt-action is deliverable in 8x57IS, 9,3x62 and .308 calibers.

EXPRESS DRILLING 961S: Agil, slim and jet more noble: Following

the presentation of the light and slim “Blitzlock”-drilling family in the

Meisterstück category last year, the Suhler factory now presents the

luxury version of this drilling. Absolutely new are the intrinsic values:

after opening the finely engraved side-plates with the concealed

lever you see what is behind the facade – real side-locks. These fine

mechanical parts get their power from V-springs. The steel surface

is finished with that what the Suhler gunsmiths call a typical „Zella

Mehlis finish“, a special polish. The weight of the new Merkel sidelock

express drilling is app. 3,4 kg. Rifle calibers are 8x57IRS and 9,3x74R.

The shotgun barrel has 12/76 with a ½ choke (steel shot proofed).

FREISCHWINGEND MIT LAUFJUSTAGEFREE FLOATING BARRELS WITH ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM

B3/B4 MIT FREISCHWINGER: Die neuen Laufgruppen der B3/B4-Reihe aus der MEM-Katego-

rie von Merkel kombiniert eine ganze Reihe technischer Leckerbissen: Der untere Lauf der Bock-

büchse schwingt jetzt frei, das erhöht die Warmschusspräzision. Zudem verfügt dieser Lauf über

eine Justiermöglichkeit der Einzelläufe zueinander in Seite und Höhe, ein mechanisches System,

das im Alltag durch den Vorderschaft geschützt wird. Bei Munitionswechseln (Laborierung oder

Geschoss) sind deshalb keine Lötarbeiten mehr erforderlich. Dieses System wurde von Merkel

auf die komplette B-Klasse übertragen und funktioniert bei Bockdoppelbüchse, Bockbüchs-

flinte und Bergstutzen identisch. Beeindruckend ist das geringe Gewicht dieser komfortablen

Gesamtlösung: Die neue B3 Bockdoppelbüchse zum Beispiel wiegt nur 3,2 Kilogramm – ein

extrem guter Wert.

B3/B4 WITH FREE FLOATING BARRELS: The new barrel groups in the B3/B4 MEM models

from Merkel combine a number of new technical highlights. The lower barrel in the o/u rifle is

free floating which increases the precision, when shooting several times. This barrel also has

an adjustment system to zero the two barrels in windage and elevation, a mechanical system

which is located under (and protected by) the forend. This means that – when the ammunition

is changed (load or bullets) – there is no need for any soldering work. This system has been in-

corporated by Merkel on the complete B-class and works identically on the over and under rifle,

the over and under combination gun and the Bergstutzen. The light weight of this complete

solution is impressive: For example the new B3 over and under rifle weights only 3,2 kilos – an

extremely good weight for a gun with a free floating barrel.

BOCKDOPPELBÜCHSE 2021AE /2022AE SAFARI: Dieses Bockgewehr hat etwas Spleeniges und wurde von Merkel in Erinnerung an ein Gewehr aufgelegt, das der Maharadscha von Bijawar

in den 30er-Jahren bei Merkel orderte: Die Anson & Deeley-Bockdoppelbüchse 2021AE /2022AE in der Großwildversion. Basis sind die leistungsstarken Kaliber .375 H&H und .470 Nitro Ex-

press. Beim Holz setzt Merkel auf die typische Safari-Schäftung: einen Pistolengriffschaft, deutsche Backe und geraden Rücken, sowie eine dämpfende Gummischaftkappe. Zum Einsatz kommt

auch das tarierte Träge-Massen-System mit Gewicht im Hinterschaft, das aus den Safari-Doppelbüchsen der Marke bekannt ist. Die Waffe verfügt über abschaltbare Ejektoren und bringt es bei

einer Lauflänge von 600 mm auf ein Gewicht von circa 4,8 Kilogramm. Das Gewehr ist als 2021AE (mit kurzem Systemkasten) in Holzklassen ab 4 und als 2022AE (mit langen Seitenplatten) in

Holzklassen ab 5 erhältlich.

OvER AND UNDER RIFLE 2021AE /2022AE SAFARI: This over and under is somewhat unusual and was created by Merkel to resemble a gun which was ordered in the 1930s by the Mahara-

ja of Bijawar: The Anson & Deeley 2021AE /2022AE over-and-under rifle in the Big-Game version, in the calibers .375 H&H und .470 Nitro Express. For the wood, Merkel has used the typical

Safari stock: Pistol grip, German cheek piece and straight back with rubber recoil pad. The weight system is the same as in the Merkel Safari rifles, with an extra weight in the stock. The gun has

ejectors which can be disconnected and has a barrel length of 600 mm and a weight of app. 4,8 kg. The gun is available as 2021AE (with short receiver) with wood quality starting from category

4 upwards and as 2022AE (with long side-plates) with basic wood category from 5.
