About IZUM
A public institution established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (emerged from the Computer Centre of the University of Maribor, RCUM, in 1983)
A public infrastructural institution, also registered as a research organization (Research and Development Act)
A library information service in the COBISS.SI national bibliographic system (Librarianship Act)
Number of employees: 100, of whom 80 have a higher education degree or a university degree

Its activities
Mainly engaged in:
Development and operation of the COBISS system and services (Co-operative Online Bibliographic System and Services) in Slovenia and abroad
Development and coordination of the library information systems of other countries within the COBISS.Net network (COBISS.BH, COBISS.SR, COBISS.CG, COBISS.MK, etc.)
Development of the information system on research in Slovenia – SICRIS (Slovenian Current Research Information System); the responsibility for its maintenance was passed to ARRS (the Slovenian Research Agency)

Financing
IZUM performs its activities for users in Slovenia based on its annual Action Plan
It is mainly financed by the Slovenian Research Agency.
Part of activities is performed under special
agreements signed directly with domestic or foreign users, or subscribers to the service.

euroCRIS 2008 – Main Points
The conference will be held in the Habakuk Convention Centre, Maribor, 5 – 7 June 2008 The Convention Centre, which extends on the surface area of 1,600 sq. m., consists of six halls and can take up to 830 participants
At the Habakuk Convention Centre, IZUM hold its annual COBISS conferences with a similar number of participants (312 in 2004, 317 in 2005; more than 300 are expected this year)
Support and financial backup by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS)

Technical Conditions
All conference halls are equipped with the state-of-the-art visual equipment, which also allows the possibility of simultaneous interpreting
The halls are provided with the Internet connection (10 – 20 point). Wireless connections are available to the hotel residents as well.

Access by Air or by Train
Nearest airports: Graz (60 km) or Ljubljana (120 km); for larger groups a minibus service can be organized
Railway station: there is a regular bus line (number 6) from the
railway station and many other points in the city centre to Habakuk
It takes about 15 minutes to get from the city centre to Habakuk
Many other accommodation possibilities in the vicinity or in the city centre will be published later
