Mega Mosquito CDI Upgrade Kit Fly 29mm Motors

The following is a parts list for the CDI Mega Mosquito upgrade kit. Laser Cut Plastic Fins 3 29mm by 5” Motor Mount Tube 1 Aft Centering Ring with 2 small holes 1 Baffle Centering Ring with 6 small holes 1 Bulk Plate with 4 small holes 1 Eye Screw 1 Heavy Duty ¼” Launch Lug Tubes 3 4/40 brass Treaded In Inserts 2 4/40 Screws 2 Motor Retention Plate 1 200 Pound Test Kevlar (feet) 8 Instructions (see pictures for reference): Parts for this step: bulk plate, eye screw, launch lugs (3) and baffle centering ring Step 1: Test fit the 29mm motor tube into the baffle center ring, Sand ring hole to adjust fit. Remove tube when proper fit is achieved. Continue with sanding the aft centering ring for proper fit (should insert with slight drag) Step 2: Insert Screw Eye into the center of the bulk plate, apply epoxy glue to the bottom (threads) of the eye screw. Allow to dry. Step 3: Cut a 1 inch piece off of one of launch lug tubes (save for later). Step 4: Insert three launch lugs into the baffle plate. Insure launch lugs are flush to the top of the bulk plate. See Picture 1 Step 5: Slide on the Baffle Centering Ring onto the launch lugs. Align two inches from the baffle plate. See Picture 1 Step 6: Using glue fillets, glue the Heavy Duty Launch Lugs to the rings using epoxy glue. Allow to dry. Step 7: Insert 29mm motor tube into the Baffle Centering Ring. The Motor Mount Tube should protrude ½ inch above Baffle Centering Ring. Apply glue to baffle centering ring and 29mm motor mount tube. Let the glue dry. See Picture 2

Step 8: Attach Kevlar to eye screw. Create a good knot and glue the knot. Step 90: Test fit the Motor Mount / Baffle Assembly into the Mosquito body tube. The 29mm motor tube should extend one fin thickness (.1 inches) past the end of the body tube. (No gluing yet). Step 10: Rotate the assembly inside the body tube so the launch lug tubes are just off to the side of the fin slots. See picture 3 Step 11: Insert upgraded fins. The fin tabs should touch the launch lug tubes. Step 12: From the top of the Estes body tube, glue the bulk plate to the body tube. Caution: do not allow glue into the launch lug tubes. Step 13: Remove fins; apply epoxy to the area of the fins that touch the body tube. Insert fins, to keep fins straight while epoxy dries, put a small amount of super glue to top and bottom of the fins. Spray with CA activator to set the super glue. Let dry. Step 14: Apply a fillet of glue to all sides of the fins (where fins meets the outside of the Estes body tube). Let dry. Step 15: Apply fillets to the fin tabs on the inside of the body tube. Let epoxy run down the length of the fin tabs. Also apply fillets to the fin tabs where they touch the Heavy Duty Launch Lug tubes. Step 16: Insert the 4/40 brass inserts (2) to the aft centering ring using a screwdriver until flush. Back out inserts; apply a drop of epoxy into holes, reinsert 4/40 brass inserts. Let the epoxy dry. Step 17: Attach the Aft Centering Ring to the back end of the Estes body tube. The ring should be recessed in the body tube 1/16 of an inch. Step 18: Apply glue fillets to the aft centering ring at the body tube and motor mount tube. Let the glue dry. Step 19: Attach the one-inch launch lug tube (cut earlier) to the outside of the body tube per Estes instructions using epoxy glue. Step 20: Attach Kevlar Shock Cord to the nose cone, knot and glue with epoxy. Step 21: To fly, insert a 29mm motor, place motor retention plate over motor, insert screws thru the motor retention plate and into the 4/40 brass inserts (finger tight).
