How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

Research & PlanningAs part of our research, we researched the chosen genre of our proposed film. After this, we looked at existing media products including film trailers of the same genre, film posters and the front covers of film magazines. When we were planning our magazine front cover and poster, we also used Google images to plan the initial drafts of our work and used existing images to help us format our own work.Google & Google images – we used Google and Google images to research our chosen genre and then to research the existing media products that were from the same genre, we used pictures of these different products and analysed them YouTube – using YouTube enabled us to view different existing trailers which helped us to identify the different codes and conventions used, which we applied to our own work.

Using YouTube and Goole was useful in the research and planning stages of our work as it enabled us to look at existing media products and replicate some of their features in our own work.

ConstructionWhen constructing our different media products, we used a range of different software and hardware. • Camera (still and video) – we used a HD digital video camera to film the trailer and a still digital camera to

take pictures for the magazine and poster• A Mac computer and iMovie – we uploaded the footage we filmed for the trailer onto a Mac and used

iMovie to edit it as we were able to add a soundtrack, different transitions of shots and titles and writing• Pixlr – editing the pictures • Serif page plus x5 – creating the magazine front cover and the poster• Also, we used Google Blogger as a way of displaying all of our work

EvaluationFor our evaluation we answered four questions and tried to use a varied amount of media and different software. Our chosen methods of displaying the information were• PowerPoint • Prezi• Screen capture using quick time• We also used YouTube to upload the videos
