    Types Of Genre We Are Using

    Thriller- The main elements of this genre is tocreate suspense, tension and excitement. Thesetypes of films tend to have sub-genres such ascrime, mystery and psychological thrillers. Thebest example of these types of genre are theHitchcock movies. They usual create anatmosphere violence, rime and murder byshowing society as dark and corrupt. As well asthis they tend to have a happy ending in which

    the villain is captured or killed. As well as thisthey tend to contain cliff-hangers or plot twists,also they create moods towards the audiencesuch as anticipation, anxiety, uncertainty andterror. They also tend to take place in normal

    cities or suburbs.

    Psychological Thrillers

    These types of movies are a sub-genre of thriller films,they have elements of the drama, mystery andsometimes horror genre. They usually contain mindgames, stalking, obsession, death-traps, psychologicalthemes and horror of personality. As well as this thecharacters used tend to have a dark background or pastand psychotic personalities. The conflict createdbetween the two main characters are usually mentaland emotion rather than physical. Sometimes thesuspense comes from within one solitary characterwhere characters must resolve conflicts with their ownminds, usually the conflict is an effort in trying tounderstand something that happened to them,themselves. These are presented to the audience byusing physical expressions by using close-up shots.

    He was an English filmmaker and producer andwas one of the most influential when talkingabout the thriller genre. He is most well knownfor producing psychological thrillers and using

    techniques to create suspense. As well as this hecreated new techniques such as camera shots tohelp the audience to identify more with thecharacters and their emotions which help todemonstrate the key elements needed for thistype of genre. Also the majority of the endings ofhis films tend to be twisted and have contentthrilling plot remaining throughout such asmurder, crime and violence. Also he tends to

    contain and stick to the theme of psychoanalysis.
