SAFETY ISSUE Merredin College warmly welcomes all parents and visitors into the school during the school day. However, it is a legal requirement for all parents and visitors to sign in and out whenever they visit as this gives us information on who is in the school should an emergency arise. We are also required to ensure the children’s safety by minimising access from the general public. Using the school as a thoroughfare does not assist us in this aspect. Please remind friends and family NOT to use the school as a thoroughfare. Staff have been asked to approach members of the public and ask them to sign in if they are visiting the school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

experience special. Our staff will be filmed with their classes, as well as interviewed. They will be asked to share how they came to be here, why it works for them and what else they bring to and receive from the community outside of school. This will occur tomorrow (8 June). Photo permissions have been sent how to affected students.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT (PBS) Our enthusiastic PBS team engaged in a full day of professional development at EWENCon (Monday 4 June). This workshop focused on ‘Teaching Expected Behaviours.’ In other words we were given advice about how to teach our students to be caring, respectful, responsible and to strive for success. The basic premise is that we teach Maths and English skills but rarely teach the skills required to behave appropriately. For some students, this is not required but for others, it is absolutely necessary. From Term 3, all students will be participate in behaviour lessons based on the school behaviour matrix.

UNIFORM SHOP Please note that the Uniform Shop will be closed next Tuesday 12 June. Instead it will be open next Friday 15 June from 10am to 1.00pm. We apologise for any inconvenience.

WINTER CANTEEN MENU The link to the Winter Canteen menu is: http://merredincollege.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/2017-18-Winter-Menu.pdf CROSS COUNTRY Reminder that the Cross Country event will be run tomorrow and that the College now has a dedicated Facebook sports carnival page where updates of the cross country event will be posted along with any other sporting event the College is partaking in. So check it out Merredin College Sports Carnival Page. Also parents can now see how their child personally went by logging on to https://sportstrackerapp.com/sign-in#sign-in-header and sign in with your child's details which were sent home earlier this week and were emailed to all students education email addresses.

PLEASE NOTE: The start times to all events are approximations and may change on the day. It is always best to arrive earlier than the estimated start times to avoid disappointment. SCHOOL-AGED HEALTH SERVICES PARENT SURVEY Help the Department of Health to improve school-aged health services. Do you have a child aged between three and 18? Child and Adolescent Community Health and WA Country Health Service are reviewing the community health services provided to school-aged children and across Western Australia. You are invited to complete a short survey to help them understand what is important to you, what is working well and what could be made better. For more information and to complete the survey, visit http://healthywa.wa.gov.au/Schoolhealth-services. The survey closes on 10 June.
