COURSE OBJECTIVE: To expose students to practical application of economics in management. Course would help students in understanding functional, tactical and strategic role of managerial decision making understanding basic micro and macro economics
developing capabilities for taking managerial decisions
PRE-REQUISITE (S) FOR THE COURSE: The Learner should have complete basic knowledge of Basic economic terms. Since the students are taking up this course in First semester, it is assumed that they must have gone through the above mentioned topics / subjects in their UG Programme
METHODS OF TEACHING: PRIMARILY LECTURES, CASE STUDIES, NUMERICALS AND ASSIGNMENTS The Course would revolve around Theory with Case Studies and Numerical Examples. Assignments would involve analysis of Problems based on different models so as to optimize their decision making process.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
Develop an understanding of Decision making, Cost analysis, Production concept, Revenue concept, Profit maximization, Price Determination, Monopoly, Oligopoly, Perfect Competition, Monopolistic Competition, National Income
Develop capability to use economics concepts in real business decision making
